New U.K. Postal rules.
by Dalmajen | Parfumo Community
...Thanks for that, @Dolby. So, this means they don't ask you what is in the parcel? Or, do you still have to fill out one of those green declaration forms? It seems funny to me, why feelunique (for example) doesn't use this option, as they are not shipping perfumes any longer, just cosmetics. It doesn't really matter how slow it is, if someone wants the perfume bad enough, they will have to be patient!

Article: Preference for Perfume Correlates w/Genotype
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...Hayven:As far as impact on future fragrances, perhaps there will be perfumers who tailor or market fragrances to evoke certain memories like weddings, parties, etc. There are 2 perfumes kind of like this already. United Scents of America - New Jersey can evoke memories of being at a carnival or fair. Also based on some of the reviews I have read, Kerosene - Unknown Pleasures takes the wearer/sniffer back to a time of ice cream cones and eating sweet things as a child. Yes, I have read about these fragrances also. But, I think it's just another gimmick. I, myself, don't want to smell like a fairground, or cotton candy, or ice cream cones etc....but, maybe certain people do! It is, however, a wonderful thing that we all perceive smells differently. Some love the smell of burnt rubber in perfumes, some love patchouli, others don't etc. It would be sad if we all loved the same things. As far as been able to smell oneself...I don't really know if I could pick out my own smell in a line up! Maybe because I have never thought of it before.

...I think we will have to see, just how bad it's going to affect all the online businesses, and ebay sellers etc. Once the penny drops, as just how much things will be affected, then there may be an adjustment of some kind. I have no idea what kind of adjustment, but I do feel there will be a lot of complaints from all sectors, so...maybe there may be a change of some sort? (here's me, trying to be optimistic!

...As far as I can gather, it's the airmail parcels that are the most affected. I am not sure if land, rail delivery will be affected as well. The member who had her perfume destroyed, was posting it to another member in the U.S. The British Post Office sent her a letter, and said her parcel contained fragrance, which is illegal to send, and that they have the right to destroy, or dispose of the perfume. (Which they did). This law has been enforced in January...and it looks like quite a few ebay sellers (U.K. based) have had their products either returned to them, without leaving the country, or destroyed. Another member made an order, this evening from cheapsmells, from overseas, and when she got to the check-out, they said only can be delivered within the U.K. This is what I found today, while looking around.http://www.salonskincare.co.uk/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/63/products_id/27917

New U.K. Postal rules.
by Dalmajen | Parfumo Community
...There is a very good discussion going on, over in Fragrantica, on the general discussion forum, titled : New UK postal rules. No fragrances are allowed to be posted anymore from the U.K. In fact, one member had her perfume destroyed, that she was sending on a swap. And, some of the online stores have already started to stop posting out of the U.K. Just thought it might be good if we started a thread here, so we can keep up with all the new developments. If you are planning on posting any perfume for swaps etc., from the U.k,, don't, as they scan everything now, and, it will be destroyed.

Storing & Organising Your Perfumes
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...I don't have a problem with mine, as don't have many perfumes. They are in the bedroom, so have mine ALL in there original boxes, and I have Two lovely big boxes I store them in, in my wardrobe. I have smaller boxes for my samples. Now the winter is here, my bedroom is cold, as don't like heating in the bedroom), so have the ones I wear often on my dressing table. I wouldn't have the room for a huge collection anyway, as live in a small Apt.

The social ambiguities of fragrance
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...Sometimes I think it's just common sense. For example.. If I visit someone with a newborn baby, I would never wear fragrance. If visiting someone in Hospital, I don't wear a heavy scent. I do work several months of the year, in a Hotel, where I reside while working), so when I decide to wear one of my heavy hitters, I use the stairs in the morning, not the lift, until the scent settles a bit. I have my own space where I work, don't share with co workers, so more or less please myself on that score. I love my perfumes, and will always wear them, but with common sense. :)
