Books: what are you reading right now?
by Anamandy | Off Topic
...The Forsaken: An American Tragedy in Stalin's Russia by Tim Tzouliadis. This needs to be made into a movie. Absolutely gripping.

First guy crush and your first girl crush? (Movies)
by Anamandy | Off Topic
...I never had a girl crush but I did think certain actresses were beautiful. Actually, too many to mention here. Audrey Hepburn is one and Gene Tierney is another. I'm showing my age here too. My first actor crush was Al Pacino when I saw him in the Godfather.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Anamandy | Parfumo Community
...DogiCocoA question to all the former fragranticans: Will you transfer your old reviews? I posted a few fresh ones that I had saved on my phone but never put on fragrantica, and I already had to modify them a bit because some of them contained corrections about the wrong notes lists on there 🤣 now I don't plan to dump all my 1000+ old reviews at once into Parfumo, but I'm wondering by which criteria others use to choose what to repost and what to leave in the past. Not necessarily. What I am doing is reevaluating my original reviews by wearing the fragrances again to see if my impressions of them have changed. If so, I either write a new review or rework the original to reflect the change. There is a difference between the review format here compared to there. There, reviews are mostly informal, with a lot of people new to perfumes and notes. We've all been there and that is good as a learning curve. I find that Parfumo has a lot of very good, very experienced reviewers who are able to describe notes, accords, and performance issues very well, usually in an interesting, informative, and beautiful way. I found something similar with Basenote's reviews, which also has very experienced reviewers too, including many known people like Luca Turin, Barbara Herman, and various perfumers/owners, as members), though I think that site is on its way out simply because it is a one-man show running the place and one person cannot do it all and run it well, especially on a site that has thousands of users. Which is too bad because Grant, the owner, is a very nice person who seems to love this hobby as much as we do.

Why Is This Site So Quiet?
by Anamandy | Parfumo Community
...I know a lot of people from Fragrantica came here recently. I have been telling a lot of people about this site because there are so many innovative things to do. I love the Assistant and Profiler features. There is nothing like that on any other site.

Ormonde Jayne Tsarina
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Thank you, I did it, but I don't know if it will be accepted or not. But it is on Ormonde Jayne's website. I don't know if they are going to be discontinuing this fragrance or not since the only thing they have available now are the travel sprayers. But that does have the same notes as the other two strengths. Thank you again for your assistance.

Ormonde Jayne Tsarina
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Hi all, I see on Ormonde Jayne's site that they have Cassis listed in the notes for the edp and the Intensivo version, yet it is not listed in the notes here for either perfume on this site. How do we go about getting the notes corrected?

What perfume have you bought recently?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Ordered a sample of Don't Tell Jasmine by Vilhelm Parfumerie. I want to see how it stacks up against my favorite Jasmine scent, Jasmin de Pays by Perris Monte Carlo. I'm also curious about the Kir cocktail note since that is what I drink on occasion.

Thoughts on Montale?
by Anamandy | Perfume Discussions
...I don't know how true it will be for you, but my favorites are Highness Rose, Gold Flowers, Intense Tiare, and Powder Flowers.  Now, as far as my opinion on Montale.  For the most part, when I first receive any bottle of Montale, they are very chemical on first spray until a few sprays later with a rest in-between when the chemicals dissipate, and I can smell the scent without them. I think it has something to do with the sealing process of the cans that causes that chemical smell. Honestly, though they look nice, I really hate the pressurized cans for perfume. It makes it hard to know visually how much perfume you have left, and since the can is pressurized, it feels lightweight, so you can't tell by weighing it in your hand either. Other than that, I like some of the fragrances, but like every other brand, not all of them.

What perfume have you bought recently?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Zara Fleur d'Oranger. I bought it on a whim when I spotted a Zara store. I was very curious about the Jo Malone collaboration. I liked most of the scents from the line she created, but I fell in love with this one. I can't believe how cheap it was, though it doesn't smell cheap at all. No bathroom citrus notes in this one. Just simple and beautiful orange blossom. It's sublime.

What Notes Are You Tired of Seeing in Perfumes?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...CoasterdudeWithout a doubt Ambroxan.  Gives me raging headaches like nothing else. Smells like nothing but also hell at the same time.  Use some real Irish black ambergris, that shit actually smells like sea Oh My, I forgot to add that I hate these newfangled molecules too. They smell just like rubbing alcohol to me and nothing else. How do niche fragrances get away with adding this garbage to their perfumes - especially at the prices being asked?

What Notes Are You Tired of Seeing in Perfumes?

Help with finding a similar perfume EDT to..
by Anamandy | Perfume Recommendations
...KreativKinIf you scroll down on the perfume's page, you see a bunch of buttons, like "Subscribe" or "Collection". Amongst them, you can find "Similar". In there, you can find some other fragrances, that people think are similar to this. How do you add a fragrance that reminds you of another fragrance? For example, the fragrance Jasmin de Pays by Perris Monte Carlo has two perfumes listed that it is supposed to smell like it yet they smell nothing like Jasmin de Pays. Fragrances that do smell like it are Rogue Perfumery's Jasmin Antique, April Aromatics Jasmina, and Savage Jasmine Sana Jardin. With extreme minor nuances they almost smell exactly alike yet vary by degrees on silage and longevity. So, how would I submit this information? Thanks for any help.

Are perfumes toxic and bad for our health?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Walking out your door can be bad for your health. Don't sweat the small stuff when there is so many more things that are bad for your health, like smoking, drinking, drug taking, overeating, and being reckless.

The Inimitable William Penhaligons but +2h?
by Anamandy | Perfume Recommendations
...I can't recommend anything like that because I never smelled it. But I have another suggestion. Why don't you try one of those fragrance primers? A lot of people told me these really works and makes perfume last and project. Some people also put vaseline on their skin a little while before putting on perfume and claims that it seems stronger afterward. Just a thought. Hope this helps. Linger Fragrance Primer - https://lingerfragranceprimer....               I keep hearing people talk about this one but can't find it anywhere.Fragrance Lock - https://www.allure.com/review/...
