Which scent do you use for sleeping well?

...Hi Djdani, like Exciter, I also don't intentionally wear fragrances for bedtime. However, I found an earlier thread here which also mentions fragrances :) :https://www.parfumo.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=545

Fragrances gifted to you, you don't love

Re: Fragrances gifted to you, you don't love
...If it was awful: Until now, I can remember only one fragrance I just couldn't stand (not so much with taste, but rather migraines I couldn't avoid). Since it was by a family member, I told them so, and they took it back to use it for themselves. If it was something that does not quite go with me: Some were, but I found it out only after several years had passed. I tried to wear them, regardless of the gifter because I did not want to waste them. In the end, I gave them away, also because these were discontinued and still had fans, apparently. If it was beautiful and something I always wanted: I am too impatient to wait and would buy it myself as a gift. If I was gifted a Diorissimo Extrait now and it if smelt like the vintage EDC/EDT, I would be very [email protected]: That's a real shame. Sometimes one seems to get accustomed to certain notes after a while, perhaps there is a chance for you as well with the sweetpea note? Or some notes seem to be toned down when not worn on the skin.

How much is too much?

...Same here as Exciter :)For me, it strongly depends on the kind of fragrance and the circumstances (season, place, time of the day).An EDC strength in the summer would be sprayed like a body mist about 3-4 times+touching up.Since I usually do not want my fragrances to project, a moderately 'strong' one (subjective perception) would be worn once, max. twice under clothes.Concerning your title about how much - if the elevator or public transport is filled with the scent, if I smell someone's trail minutes after the person's gone or has just passed by (no matter in the open air or a room), I would consider this as 'over-spray'.If I have to sit next to or behind someone at the theatre/cinema/opera whatnot and can't concentrate on the stage because of the scent of this person during the whole performance, I would regard this as a result of over-spraying as well.

Help needed: translation of notes.

...https://www.parfumo.net/Fragrance_Note/Oud_combodiEdit: I can only find it in connection with the Arabic name used for Arabic fragrances "oudh al combodi" which seems to be a spelling variation for "Oud Cambodi".Since we do not have a separate English entry for "Cambodian oud" (except for "Black Cambodian Oud"), I assume we're using the Arabic name for a reason, also for non-Arabic fragrances.

Perfume-related quotes

...Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud might be right for the majority of people, but I prefer flowers to bees ;)"The scent of the blossoms will not stay on the branches they have fallen frombut will remain deeply fragrant on the sleeves" (from The Tale of Genji)Nobles enjoyed mixing fragrances and making solid perfume incenses, using as a room- and also fabric scent transferred onto their clothes.

Fugliest Bottles

...Nice association, Cryptic :o I actually prefer that blushing skull with the fancy scrunchie, no matter if I'll out myself as being tasteless.I seldom find a bottle 'ugly', even if it's not my cup of tea, but feel averse to those low-budget dupe bottles which look like they have been made by someone who hates their work, or end up as a caricature of the original. This one has a piece of thin polyester just pulled over the sprayer top, the hems not worked on, not even made into a ribbon as one might expect from the picture.

Spring is in the air!

...Summer's here, Mia ;) spring was skipped as always. Before it gets midsummer, though, mine would be floral-centric ones like "Cabotine (Eau de Toilette)" (actually wearable all year round), "Cabotine Rose", "Diorissimo (Eau de Toilette)", "Eau de Cobson Muguet_Melon Eau Fraîche" (has an edge which bothers in heat) or the Magnolia-tobacco-leather combination "Petale Noir" where I find the flowers develop better in warmer weather.

Fugliest Bottles

...Cincy, I do think it was covertly meant to target the group that would apparently see some kind of sense in it, but it was presented as 'naive art'.And since it's got a rather modest headpiece, one of my 'favourites' might do instead.Cryptic, why, the name's already given, as the male counterpart, "Body Kounyros" or something like...Then, we might all look like that.

Scent of the Day

...Overnight-remnants of "Maîtresse", "Petale Noir", "Agent Provocateur", "Arpège (1993) (Eau de Parfum)" still on both arms, "Just Precious" already vanished on neck*, one spray of "Five-Stars d'Oscar" on cleavage, on a - finally! - fresh day.Sidenote: Due to re-testing.ETA: It wasn't about longevity but still, "Agent Provocateur" clearly is the finalist, half a spray = 18h still going. Saffron certainly is persistent.

Fugliest Bottles

...I was rather reminded of a mix of the souvenir miniatures and the "Âme Toscane" (btw, they recently changed the bottle). Someone seems to have had a...let's call it a 'Milo' complex (especially mentioning some pedestals and museums) and aimed at a similar effect. Must say, they left off not only the arms, but also the head for some reason (and maybe for good).Who's going to have a bottle like the 3rd picture next? Banderas? Beckham? Trump? (At any rate, headless - goes without saying)eta: I found another idea for the next male celebrity bottle design in the same vein (4th pic).

What are some best vintage perfumes for women?

...I share Quercus' view on this matter and also his observation on this topic. Seems to be controversial like any other subject which deals with one's belief in some way, strongly depending on the person's background (cultural, generational etc.), and as such, one of those issues where some people indeed tend to become rather emotional (for the reason above, and I assume also because for these people, it's tied to the question of their own identity/the feeling of security based on their view of 'balance' in the world). But this would be better suited to the other thread dealing with this in specific. As to your second question, Ashrita: As you can see on Cincy's linked page, not all of them are. If the gender assignment isn't clear enough in the description, you can quickly check on Parfumo ;)
