Parfumo/Fragrantica
by Gold | Parfumo Community
...Pipette:Just this morning, one of the topics over at Fragrantica was, "Your favorite reviewer" and members listed their favorites. Some names came up again and again, so there must be something to their validity of reviews. My favorite reviewers are:NopashoRosaMilenaMissk(My name was not among those because I hardly write reviews, my exposure is more social than writing reviews.)Pipette, I remember how I hated these threads over there...-"My favourite reviewer..." and the conflicts they caused because people felt they were left out or not appreciated. I also remember how I hated the agitated, sometimes hysterical atmossphere of the site. Well, I'm very happy here and I think that those who need a change/want a change will certainly make their way to Parfumo...no special appeals needed, I'm sure.

Looking for a new peach-scent
...Pipette:You have to lie at the post office when you fill in the custom declaration sticker information. You say: Gift, cosmetics - body cream, value $10., no commercial value.NEVER, EVER STATE THAT YOU ARE SENDING PERFUME.We have discussed this at length here:http://www.parfumo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=884&highlight=Thanks, Pipette! Yes, I guess that's the way you do it. In our case (sending sth from Germany to the US) - you don't even have to fill in any declaration form. They just don't ask you anything.

Looking for a new peach-scent
...I'm a sucker for peach-fragrances, my favourite being Peau de PECHE by Keiko Mecheri... unfortunately, it's rather pricey and I don't want to cash out 140 Euros for one bottle of PdP at the moment. Is there another fragrance in this style? I'd be grateful for any recommendation.

Worst mismatch between fragrance name and scent?
...Greysolon:[I like "Marquis de Sade" by HdP, too. It's a very nice leather scent. Nice. But something like Bandit is nastier...Yes, absolutely...Bandit is "nastier", I agree! How about "Odalisque?" I don't like the name, it doesn't suit the scent which is a well-behaved, elegant chypre.

Worst mismatch between fragrance name and scent?
..."Marquis de Sade" by HdP. I love this fragrance... and it's a very straightforward, spicy-leathery kind of tobacco-scent, not in the least what you'd expect given the name which is a symbol of debauchery. "Vitriol d'Oillet" by Serge Lutens... -why "vitriol", it's not that biting

The Fragrance Wheel - What are your preferences ?
...I love mossy woods, green scents, florals, orientals... well, I enjoy fragrances from all categories. Since the wheel dates back to 1983, I miss the FRUITY catagory. "Fruity" is the category which I normally can't stand...- but there are exceptions in this field, too.

Which Caron scents do you think a man can wear? Montaigne (2007) (Eau de Parfum) - Caron
...I agree with "Aimez-moi", but also second "Bellodgia", a tender carnation, a bit powdery...a perfume which came before L'Air du temps, kind of announcing it (in 1927). I don't know anything about the quality of the reformlation though. Off - Topic: What do you think about the new Caron vessels? I think they are really ugly.

My mom's forgotten perfume stash
...Lucky you! What does Mojet bytj (Maybe) look like? I'm particularly interested in Russian perfume vessels. And Farouche... I adore the scent. Hope it is still intact!

Any experience with fragrances by Marks&Spencer's (UK)?
...Is there anybody out there who could recommend a good fragrance from Marks&Spencer's in the UK? They have quite an impressive range of fragrances of all kind, but I've never tried any of them so far. Is there anything particularly nice you could recommend (to help me save time when sampling?). Looking forward to your replies.

Is there another beauty in the style of "APRES L'ONDE
...Wichapi:My favorites that still remain in my collection are Parfumerie Generale Iris Tazo (aka Iris Oriental), and Guerlain's Eau de Noel Iris Millesime. The former is iris with a spicy undertone, the latter... a swooning, spiritual experience. It was a limited edition, so difficult to find nowadays. Every once in a while, a bottle turns up on that "E" auction site. Thanks everybody for all the suggestions, wonderful.Wichapi, I'll try to hunt down the limited edition called Iris Millesime... it sounds great.

The classiest scent in your wardrobe
...From my collection, I'd pick No. 1 by Clive Christian, because it's a fragrance I don't wear often and because it fits the bill... in terms of smelling "classy".

Guerlain showcasing their most expensive scents
...Apicius: The staff in Berlin and Düsseldorf is gorgeous - they are addicted to Guerlain themselves, and they have so much fun selling Guerlain perfumes that it is a joy to go there and have a few words with them. Apicius, could you tell me which of the Douglas-Flagship-Stores carries the Maison-Exclusifs in Berlin? And isn't there a counter in the KadeWe, too? I'll have to go to Berlin quite a lot this year and would like to benefit from this also in terms of "fragrance-shopping".

Guerlain showcasing their most expensive scents
...Dear PontNeuf, since you go to Paris quite often... my shopping experience in "La Maison Guerlain" in Paris was "awesome", the assistant being a charmy, middle-aged specialist who spent two delightful hours with my daughter and myself and never grew tired of showing us everything... we also got loads of samples and small gifts, well, what can I say... it was a unique afternoon!Btw. you can call the Parisian store and order your perfumes by telephone, they charge 10 Euros for the parcel and take down your credit card details. The Maison Guerlain in Moscow (Department Store ZUM) is nearly as good... last summer we received 5 samples of Guerlain perfumes without buying anything. As for Germany: Don't know anything about Stuttgard, the assistant in Munich at the "Les Exclusif" counter was very nice, but then again, my friend had called them beforehand and told them we'd "visit" and would they have a bottle of Rose Nacreé ready etc. etc. Düsseldorf was a disappointment - I felt the same as you in Stuttgard. High-brow and arrogant they were... and nearly no samples, just a trial size of their latest cream (which did not interest me at all). Well, maybe someone will tell us about the new store at the Parisian Airport pretty soon...

How many discontinued perfumes do you own?
...I guess about 20... - I seem to have a developed a fond liking for those fragrances which are/were discontinued... and lament every drop of an old vintage gem I use...but then again, nothing lasts forever. Perfume is ephemeral by definition.

Bois d'Arménie - tilted? Bois d'Arménie - Guerlain
...Sherapop:The reformulations are at best mediocre, and the Shalimar flankers?Guerlain has fallen from grace in my eyes.No one is sorrier about this than I! :(I fully agree. The Shalimar Initial-Flankers - how many are there? Three? Yet another version in the pipeline, I readThe gorgeous Shalimar Eau legere was discontinued long ago and replaced by Eau de Shalimar, which is also on the verge of being discontinued...The mainstream perfumes like "La petite robe noire" (version 2012) and "Iydlle" never captured my heart. Even the latest Maison Guerlain "Les Exclusifs" are not as outstanding as one would expect, although I wouldn't mind owning some of them, of course, but I can find similar quality at - say - Patricia de Nicolai for a fraction of the price of "Les Exclusifs". Of course "Chamade pour homme", "Habit rouge" and "Eau de Guerlain" still speak for themselves - but they are clearly classics. None of the new releases (Thierry Wasser's creations) are as brilliant as the classics. Apicius, I'm also keen on trying the new gent's cologne... - always in the hope of finding something in Guerlain's new line which can live up to the standards set by the house itself decades ago. Maybe this year I won't be disappointed.

Bois d'Arménie - tilted? Bois d'Arménie - Guerlain
...Cryptic: I agree that Guerlain is changing in a scary way, Sherapop. :(Because of the "deterioration issue" or because of the many mediocre scents they've been launching for quite a while? I'd be interested in hearing your opinions.
