How did you hear about Parfumo?
by Kurai | Parfumo Community
...DanaMI spent a little time on another well known site, but for some reason it never really clicked for me? I was looking to download an app strictly for organizational purposes, since I am a weirdo like that, and stumbled across the Parfumo app. Meant to be.Hi @DanaM and welcome to the community!Yeah the app is quite handy as an assistant on-the-go. If organizational is your thing you have come to the right place! There are some great features here for a well organized perfume wardrobe with options like custom shelves and different ways of ranking/sorting. If you enter your scent of the day regularly, the tracker will give lots of useful insights into your wearing habits. Not all features are in the app yet, so give the website a try as well. Enjoy ✌

Rice notes?
...With rice, I suggest to distinct two main types: there is the steamed rice note (more an accord actually) which reminds one of a bowl of freshly cooked rice ready to be eaten. Fils de Dieu du Riz et des Agrumes / Philippine HouseboyFils de Dieu du Riz et des Agrumes is the perfect example of this. Ginger, cilantro and lime complete the east-asian vibe. Other perfumes with a steamed rice note are L'Eau PapierL'Eau Papier and "Notes de Fond - Santal-Basmati | Affinessence" There is also the rice powder note. Rice powder is nothing like steamed rice. It is powdery in a make-up kind of way like heliotrope without the almonds. Here my suggestions are Blanc PoudreBlanc Poudre, PoudrextasePoudrextase and En PassantEn PassantHope this helps.

Workplace friendly unisex/women’s niche perfumes?
...Workplace-friendly female perfumes are my thing. I spend (too) many hours in the office, so I selected a large part of my perfume wardrobe accordingly. Personally I think amber, leather and spice do not fit in the workplace simply because they have a rather strong presence and can be received as oppressive or shouty. Citrus, powder, soap and soft florals are perfect for the job.My personal preference goes to the fresher florals like Orange blossom - Sandan / Sandalo (Perfume Oil)Sandan Perfume Oil Lily-of-the-valley - CavatinaCavatina, LuckyLucky, Fleur VerteFleur Verte, "Synthetic Jungle | Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle" Green tea - Thé CachemireThé Cachemire, Wūlóng Chá (Extrait de Parfum)Wūlóng Chá Extrait de Parfum, Hyouge / OribeHyouge Osmanthus - OsmanthusOsmanthus Narcissus can get animalic, but not with N°19 (Eau de Toilette)N°19 Eau de Toilette (the EDP is a no go)Irises are difficult, I think. Some are clean, others are highly flirtatious and it is a fine line between those two. My work-safe iris is Frosted Moon / Lune de GivreFrosted Moon Chypres can go musty with their oakmoss/patchouli base on a stressful day, so I prefer not to go down that road. Although sometimes in winter I reach for 31 Rue Cambon (Eau de Parfum)31 Rue Cambon Eau de Parfum Aldehydes give that soapy feel. Usually well-received, but to some people a reminder of baby wipes. Not so much with La Pausa (Eau de Parfum)La Pausa Eau de Parfum Of course, with sandalwood you never go wrong Tam Dao (Eau de Parfum)Tam Dao Eau de Parfum One genre that I have not really dipped my toes into, especially in office settings, is the fruity perfumes. They may be a fairly safe place in between sweet-gourmand and light-fresh. All I have there is Premier Figuier (Eau de Toilette)Premier Figuier Eau de Toilette Hope this helps! ✌

Tom Ford Plum Japonais HELP
by Kurai | Perfumes & Brands
...VegaZ1. I asked them now to send the pictures with the paper2. there isn't any bottles left anywhere it has been discontinued for 3-4 years now cant find it anywhere, if u can find me one I will even pay you for finding oneHi @VegaZ and welcome to Parfumo!I have no experience with authenticity features of Tom Ford bottles specifically, but I would like to suggest studying some Fake vs Real videos on Youtube. They should be helpful to some extent. Of course like @Mitchcraft said, eBay purchases are always a gamble. Finally, a friendly reminder with regard to the community rules. Let's stick to the authenticity discussion and not make the forum a marketplace :)Anyways, good luck with your hunt for the discontinued gem!

...GourmandgrlIs there a way for me to see past notifications? I would love to respond to previous comments/tags, but can't seem to find them anymore after I first saw them. Thank you! 😊Hi @Gourmandgrl ,That sounds like a good idea. As far as I know the notifications are gone after you opened them. An alternative would be to turn off instant notifications in your settings so you get notified by e-mail instead. Not ideal either, I guess. So I reckon you submit your idea in the suggestion box 😉

...RachelgIf a perfume doesn't have a main photo (or any photo), and you have a clean photo on a blank white background, do you still submit it via the email address for consideration? Or is there somewhere else to do it now? I submitted yesterday for a perfume and haven't seen it updated, although I may just be impatient. Thank you! Hi @Rachelg The process is still the same. Main pics are submitted to the email as mentioned in the research guide. Perhaps the reviewer is just enjoying his summer holiday :)

...LempiAnother question about the photo rules... There's this: "Each Parfumo member may submit a maximum of five separate photographs for a given perfume." But... Now I tried to submit my 4th photo for Womanity (Eau de Parfum)Womanity Eau de Parfum and it said that I can submit only 3 photos 😳 So is it 3 or 5? And if it's really only 3, then please correct it to the rules too. I would have liked to know that in advance... 😔 And my opinion is that we should definitely be allowed to submit more than 3 pics of each perfume, even 5 seems like a small number to me.Hi @Lempi,You're right that the rules need to be updated. I don't moderate the photo section, so I am not sure of the reason why the max is now 3. But I guess it has to do with keeping the perfume's front pages as a reference and keeping a varied range of images from different bottles. In the blog and forum section, you can share as many pics as you like, though. With a lot more room for creativity :)

Questions about Assistant
by Kurai | Parfumo Community
...Hi Dvduvix, First off, welcome to Parfumo. Enjoy your stay here! Also, that's an impressive collection of Rojas you've got there.Regarding the Assistant, it will automatically suggest the perfumes that match the season and time of day, based on community votes. It won't change advice after you wear one of the suggestions. It does show when was your last wear for each of the listed perfumes, though. You can tweak the assistant a bit by adjusting either the season, time of day or event to get a more tailored advice. Just press the customize button.Another handy function is the tracker where you can see what perfumes you wear most often and which ones you did not wear for a while. This works best if you keep track of your daily wear over a longer period of time.Hope this helps. cheers ✌

Big Jasmine, Where Art Thou?
...JohnjssmithJasmin AngéliqueJasmin Angélique is by far the most realistic jasmine fragrance I've ever tried, I recommend checking it out if anyone's looking for a life-like picture of the flower. An acquaintance I trust told me "Mélodie de l'Amour | Dusita" is another splendid jasmine scent, and I haven't been able to sample it myself but I have complete trust in them.Thank you @Johnjssmith for mentioning "Mélodie de l'Amour | Dusita" Maybe not a solo jasmin, but in perfect sync with other white florals like gardenia, tuberose and orange blossom. Intensely beautiful and absolutely worth a try!

Help as a new user
by Kurai | Parfumo Community
...LempiAnother newbie question... It's about the search. I would like to search perfumes by note combinations, for example "which perfumes contain vanilla, coffee and chocolate". And I mean all those notes in the same perfume. Is there such search option or are you able to search only one note? And are you able to search from your own collection? For example which perfumes in my own collection contain jasmine? Or which perfumes in my own collection were released in 2015? Etc. If these options don't exist yet, should I post a request in the "technical support" section? I think many users would find these very helpful.Hi @Lempi, Most of the search options you mention are available either in the 'Advanced Search' section or the 'Profiler'. I will add some screenshots to give an idea. By the way, you can sort and group your collection in pretty neat ways. If you sort by release year, for example, you can see all fragrances per year in one view.Hope this helps.

...Hi @Lempi,The perfume photos become part of the perfume’s page so they should serve as a reference. Of course there is room for creativity but (only) the bottle should be the center of attention. If you want to share your collections or hobbies with the community, that is of course very welcome. And your pics do look great, so please do! The Personal Blog or the Forum would be the best place for that.

...Indeed, and thanks a million!! My welcome here has been so super warm, it feels great. 🥰 By the way, I noticed that you are a moderator, are you a mod at the photo section as well? Or who is? I asked a question about photo rules in the newbie topic but didn't get any answer so I was wondering if I could PM my question to someone. Thank you!Hi @Lempi, thanks for reaching out!  I’ll write an answer to your question in that thread, so we can keep this one on the Fragrantica topic

...OMG I was going to write a long post about the reasons why I will be leaving Fragrantica permanently soon but you summarized everything I was going to say in this one short sentence. 😂 So thank you, yes, indeed 100 % this. I tolerated Fragrantica for 9 years (!!!) because I thought there were no proper options. Now I know better and embrace the wonderful Parfumo community, everything seems so much better in here.Never too late to see the light! Welcome to Parfumo ✌

Motivation: Mood, Season, Weather or...?
by Kurai | Perfume Discussions
...For me, the occasion is the most important criterium. I spend most of my day in business meetings or semi-formal settings, so typically I go for a low-key scent. On other occasions like dinner out or social get-togethers, I take out the more dramatic fragrances. On Parfumo I created a few custom shelves that help me select a perfume per occasion.
