Spring is in the air!
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...I happened upon a bottle of "Balenciaga Paris L'Essence" and in this cool spring we're having I'm rather enjoying it. It's woodsy and cool and deep enough for me. I've also found two others that I'm enjoying. "Bill Blass", a vintage with some florals that for me isn't so much a floral but more with spices and woods. Also, "Halston Woman", which is a very light woody rose.

What do you like best on Parfumo?
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...I love the atmosphere. The coming together of minds with one purpose. The non-hate. This all makes for such a compatible atmosphere, it's a pleasure to visit.I like the idea of being able to post photos of one's perfumes. This gives people an idea of all the variations of bottles and is so interesting to see. I love perusing peoples galleries to see the different versions.I like the hands-on capability of members. For example, being able to propose a perfume to add to the database. When members feel as if they are truly members of a site, it feels so much more user-friendly.Don is one of us. He doesn't put himself on a pedestal and hide. He actually talks to members. How refreshing this is! Along with other members of the team, I think it's wonderful that they all reach out to members to let them know they are wanted and appreciated at Parfumo.I like that members can post their own blogs. It's fascinating to read them and respond to them, too. That's a great feature that again, makes this site much more user-friendly.No Advertisements. The front page that speaks directly of its own members. You can go directly to new photos, new reviews, new blogs, whatever you'd like. The awards system. The new link just added for where to purchase perfumes directly on each perfume page. The "Assistant" and "Discover" pages. Both of those are both informative, and fun.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...I just read the forum about the long reviews, which is turning into an argument and love/hate fest. One person even mentioned limiting reviews to "100" characters, which is less than a tweet. Imagine how much you could learn about a perfume in less than 100. Reviewing perfumes isn't "Headlines 101". It doesn't matter to me how long/short a review is, as long as it makes a valid point that I can use about the perfume in my decision buying. Or, if the writer waxes poetic, and I enjoy their writing, so be it. So glad that this site isn't full of such hate-mongers whose days are filled with glee when they can brew trouble over a simple question. Then again, insecure and immature personalities don't seem to run rampant here. At least when they attempt to, they soon leave. There isn't any room for them and they are quickly bored.

EU Allergen Legislation: Please Read!
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Has it been considered to also place the petition on www.change.org? This would be another venue to highlight the petition and would give it more international exposure and the opportunity to garner many more signatures. Change.org is a wonderful platform. I'd be happy to help with it.

EU Allergen Legislation: Please Read!
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...It's surprising who else might be interested in signing the petition. At the Easter table with my children, I brought up the petition topic and the merits of why we must save perfume. My daughter had already signed it and passed information along to her friends. Now it was time to pass information along to my my sons and daughter-in-law. Not surprisingly, my sons began questioning me on why a petition was needed, on the whys and hows perfumes were changing, and about allergens. They agreed with the cause. They listened, they asked questions, they debated a bit, and then they saw what the future would hold. The point is, you never know who is interested in signing and spreading the word unless you talk about it. Many don't realize how important this topic really is until they hear our passionate words. We should never stop fighting for our causes.

Regulations for perfume on airplane?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Hayven:Ahh, so it's a domestic trip. Sorry for rambling on and on then.I agree with Pipette; try and find one spot to shop and find a little something special.I don't think you can buy duty-free fragrances unless you're going in or out of the country...right? At least that's how it is at O'Hare.Nothing to apologize about, Hayven! It's a wedding I'm going to. I'd much rather drive and see the country, but again, my pets. Then again, I have a friend where the wedding is actually being held, so she can tell me about all the shops I'd like to know about. Pipette, my friend will know where to go, be it little thrift shops, specialty shops, or what-ever. And you're right, bringing something back from the trip will be special. The trip is to Houston. I've been there before. And I'm sure I'll find something there. So if I bring my little sprays like the sprays Sephora makes up in the little plastic 5 ml bottles, and place it in the bags, that's ok? I'm such a newbie at this, but I truly don't want to lose any perfume or have it confiscated and thrown away at that point.

About: photography...
by Sorceress | Off Topic
...Great topic! I belong to a few photography clubs and we love to discuss techniques. We were just talking recently about using the old cameras. And I do mean old. I mean ones that you can pick up at flea markets for a song. Sometimes you can't even tell what the picture will look like when you're trying to take it. But the results are phenomenal. The new cameras may look fancy and prestigious around someone's neck, but that doesn't mean the final product will be always be good. The picture that is taken is what is in the eye of the beholder. The camera may cost thousands of dollars, but that doesn't mean jack, quite frankly. It's what the photographer "sees" that's important. Next comes the imaging. And with today's products, there's a slew of products out there. Products are available for phones, for PC's, for laptaps and for tablets. The main focus tho, is on having fun, and going at your own pace. Don't let anyone intimidate you. Be creative from within. And don't worry about the cost of your camera. Many great photos are taken nowadays with so-called "point and shoots" or even with cell phones. Just remember to have fun, educate yourself at your own pace while learning to be creative. And DPREVIEW.com is a great place to view galleries, learn techniques, view camera models, etc.

Regulations for perfume on airplane?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Thank you all for the information! The reason I had asked about buying in the shops or on the plane was to see if that was an option, also. Or if when I was at my destination I had found a perfume (or two...) that I liked and purchased and wanted to return home with it. It's really just a short domestic trip. Boarding my pets will be a huge expense for me as it is and that factors in. But I won't travel without perfume at all. I'd feel naked...

Parfumo Received Written Warning
by Sorceress | Parfumo Research
...So if I understand this correctly: Someone else says they own the copyright to "S". The person who is currently marketing "S" never copyrighted it, (their mistake), so are they now pulling their products from the shelves? Or re-naming them? Because if someone else says they own the name, why would someone want to continue marketing a product under a name that they don't own?
