two arguments: perfume shelf-life and the problem of fakes
...have often lamented that the beautiful Tocca bottles do not have screw-off tops, which would make them reusable. Here's an example: Tocca "Brigitte"They only contain 50ml, so it seems like an awful waste of a beautiful glass...

...box suggest it is pre 2005 but post 1990. Compared to the Joy EDP, it is a little more mellow on opening - less green, bright and jasmine-y up top. Around the 20 minute mark, they smell almost the same to me. The biggest difference is in the base. Eau de Joy lasts longer and seems to develop the...

Tragedy. When perfumes turn
...for it.It was duly stored in its box and eked out in carefully measured drops so it would last. Well, last it did not. Eighteen months later the top notes had turned and I assumed it was no longer wearable. Should have splashed it on when I had the chance!Funny thing is, I kept the little ribbed... a couple of years ago. There was still some perfume in it, now dark and viscous. Still smelled bad from the bottle but after I applied it and the top notes had burned off, it was lovely. Probably sells at $20/ml for the vintage parfum these days.I always regretted not buying the EDP spray - I hated...

Vintage - Yes or No ?
by Dulcemio | Perfumes & Brands
...will treat it like journalism. It isn't.Now, back to why PontNeuf has a point. Unfortunately, when a fragrance turns, it's not just about losing top notes, I wish it were. It's about middle and base notes that now smell like kerosene. I think maybe 5% of the vintage purchases I've made had sadly...

Vintage - Yes or No ?
by ExUser | Perfumes & Brands
...We spend our money on the vintages, know what we are looking for, know what we smell. As I feel it bears repeating, I buy a perfume not for its' top notes anyway. I buy a perfume for what it will smell like eventually on me, what it will become on me. So when a vintage has lost some of its... notes anyway. I buy a perfume for what it will smell like eventually on me, what it will become on me. So when a vintage has lost some of its' top, so what? For me, it has only aged desirably, and its' drydown is all the more better. Frankly, I saw the article as an attack on vintages, rather...
