Natalia Vodianova is probably as close to Mumatz Mahal as Liz Taylor to Cleopatra.________Another take on exotica. https://youtu.be/5J4ZDSeC3uAGuess what? Natalia is married to Antoine Arnault, which explains so much. Thanks for the Aura video, Mia. :)

Fugliest Bottles
by Cryptic | Perfumes & Brands
...What a shame. The central part (is it a smokestack?) would've looked fine on its own. Somebody got carried away and now it looks like a cross between a child's toy and a salt shaker.

What's the most popular in your country?
by Cryptic | Perfumes & Brands
...Cincy, not only are the perfumes on the list somewhat classic, but I was surprised that there wasn't a single Thierry Mugler. I still smell Alien all the time, although Angel seems to be over (finally!). I take it that Aura isn't a smash hit, or maybe it's too early and we'll see it on a list like this one next year.

...I don't know how scientifically this list of best sellers was compiled, but I can vouch that I smell these fumes on others all the time. So... In the US, we apparently go bonkers for:1. Chance2. Coco Mademoiselle3. Amazing Grace4. Chanel No.55. La vie est belle6. Daisy7. Flowerbomb8. J'adore9. Viva La Juicy10. Ultra-Expensive Perfumes
by Cryptic | Perfumes & Brands
...On the fifth anniversary of this topic I find that I have less guilt over spending $$$ on what I view as olfactory art, but I do get angsty about adding to a collection that is already crazy big by non-parfumista standards. I could purge dozens of bottles to make room for more, but so many have memories associated with them, even the ones I've outgrown aesthetically . So, I guess that makes me a hoarder of sorts.

How to replace or fix parfume pump spray?
by Cryptic | Perfume Discussions
...:( That's a new one on me, Hogar315. As Cincy said, I'd first try to return it. If for some reason that isn't an option, perhaps you could salvage the perfume by removing the metal collar with a pair of needle-nosed pliers. After you transfer the juice to an atomizer or a pretty stoppered bottle, maybe she could repurpose what's left of the flacon into a cute vase for a wee bouquet of flowers? Sorry this happened.

Weekly Scent Discussion# 23: Lavender. Oh, How I love thee
by Cryptic | Perfumes by Note, Accord, Genre
...Briarthorn, have you tried "Caldey Island Lavender" yet? It's been compared favorably to one of the fragrances you listed, Caron Pour Un Homme, so you might enjoy it. Unfortunately, CIL is difficult to obtain because the abbey which produces it will only ship within the UK, but I believe Surrender to Chance sells samples. If you want a full bottle after trying it, you may be able to find it on eBay or in someone's souk.

How much Bling do you need?
by Cryptic | Perfumes & Brands
...I agree! It's magnificent without being over-the-top, Mia.Aside from flacon collectors, I think most members of the perfume community buy fragrance for the contents as opposed to the bottle itself. However, the beauty of the flacon, as well as the name of the perfume and other external factors make a difference to me in that they draw my interest to the product and prompt me to test it. There are so many annual releases these days that it's impossible to try everything, and beautiful packaging gives a perfume an advantage in that Sea of Scent, at least for me.

How much Bling do you need?
by Cryptic | Perfumes & Brands
...I love well-done bling! That peacock feather jewel on Qom Chilom is just brilliant, and so are the gold tassels on The Merchant of Venice line. Some ornamentation just looks shambolic, though. Sorry, Pipette, but I can't warm up to those Swiss Arabian bottles.
