11 Iconic Perfumes of the 80s
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...KL was one I loved, and wore a lot of in the 80's...KL, Karl Lagerfield. It wasn't over the top expensive...but now, OMG..it costs an absolute fortune! I wish I had stored a bottle of this beauty away. I wore Opium for years, as well.

...Perfumecrazy:Sycamore Row. John Grisham. So far, so good. Last few books have been disappointing but this seems like the JG I know and love.I am also reading this, at the moment! Very good so far. Also purchased on my kindle) The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, recommended on here. And, as I haven't read him before, also purchased two Daniel Silva novels for a very cheap price!! Portrait of a spy, and The fallen angel. And, just this afternoon, bought a set of killer/thrillers 9 books, for 99cents! Too good to resist!.

What really makes you BUY a perfume?
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...I don't usually blind buy. I have, however bought only two fragrances blind, due to reviews etc. One of them I really liked, the other..well I tolerated, but ended up gifting it to my DIL. I usually always buy my fragrances based on a sample, or by testing at the shop. When I love something so very much, it stays on my mind, and I can't stop thinking about the particular fragrance...it drives me crazy, and I when I make up my mind that I must have it, I will go to great lengths to get it! Thank Goodness this isn't every single fragrance I sample, or else I would be either bankrupt, or worse! What my main problem is, where I live. Not all fragrances that I love are available here, or they cost an arm and a leg! Our taxes are very high here). I do a lot of research on which online shops stock it, what are the shipping costs..taxes duty etc. It took me months to finally obtain my Coromandel, but in the end, I finally got it. I was lucky, as had friends coming here, to where I live, and they graciously brought it over from England for me. Now, I have finally obtained another fragrance that I have wanted for ages, a Tauer fragrance). I don't purchase tons of perfumes, nor do I want every single new thing that comes out. And, if I can't afford it, or if it's impossible for me to get it, then I just move on. What makes me want the perfume? The way the notes harmonize to my nose..the way it sits on my skin..the way I feel, when I wear it. That is the clincher for me. And, I just know, when it will be, true love!

The Insidious Gourmand, don't you hate it?
...Pipette:Gourmands have their place for the ones who like them. "Coromandel" is almost a classic and liked by many. "Anima Dulcis" has chili in a sweet gourmand presentation and that adds a kick to it which is unusual. Cinnamon drydown is also very nice. yes, I agree. Not everyone likes the same style of perfume, nor do they like the same groups. We all don't like the same flowers, but it is perfectly acceptable to write a negative review, and point out what annoys you about certain fragrances. I, myself are not fond of berry, fruity fragrances, and have written several negative reviews on some of these fragrances, but that is only my personal opinion , and I would never criticize a person who wears and loves these type of perfumes. We are lucky we have so many wonderful choices, even though I am disappointed in today's newer fragrances...longevity etc. I for one, adore Coromandel, and don't find it sickly sweet at all. So, it is all in the smell of the beholder!

Is it difficult to remember scents?
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...There are certain perfumes I wore years ago, and I can still smell them, in my memory. The fragrance will only come to my mind, when I am reminded of the perfume, or I have written about it. For example,I saw a picture of KL, a fragrance I wore a lot in the 80's, and straight away I could recall how it smelled. The same with Opium, and Estee Lauder Youth Dew...which I can recognize in an instant. Not all fragrances have the recall..but somehow, these ones are inbedded in my memory! :)

Lasting power, your thoughts
by Dalmajen | Perfumes & Brands
...Yes, I will agree with the Goutal remark..I am so disappointed with my Vanille Exquise, I love it so much, but it barely lasts 2 hours on me. I would have bought another bottle if it had a better longevity , but, sadly it hasn't. All the Andy Tauer fragrances are super for lasting power...worth the high price tag, if you like the particular fragrance ).
