...You read my mind! I was just thinking about "Daim Blonde" by Serge Lutens and "Mihime" by Keiko Mecheri and trying to mentally grasp the common note of Hawthorn in both of these so I began to research other fragrances to try in this group and "Beige" by Chanel is recommended.
Laura Ashley No 1 (2012)
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Tinctureall:I haven't tried the new one but remember loving the original. Have you got the old to do a side by side?Hi Tinctureall, So true, the original was excellent and I haven't found anything even similar. Unfortunately I don't have the original. It's gotten very difficult to find from trusted sources. It was so popular in the early 90s that I didn't even stock up because everyone else was wearing it and I was into having a unique signature scent- so I chose something else- Paco Rabanne "Calandre", as I recall (fool that I am! I wasn't yet collecting fragrances.) I guess I could invest in a sample from one of the purveyors of out-of-production scents. I see the notes for the newer version are not even close to those for the original, so I am wondering if it is even worth it. It says on the website "a modern interpretation of the classic" so that is fairly vague. Notes on the 2012 version say "cassis, victorian plum, violet leaves, marshmallow and green water stem." versus the original which was "peach, bergamot, orange blossom, gardenia, galbanum, narcissus, rose, jasmine, carnation, cinnamon, basil, sandalwood, musk, vanilla, cyclamen and oakmoss"...hmmm. What do you think?

A fragrance gift this Christmas / holiday season ?
by Flavorite | Parfumo Community
...Sadly, my family will probably have an intervention if I request another perfume this year. Way to support individual interests! I will be giving my last unopened bottle of the Iceberg Fragrance to my Dad's Girlfriend, Library of Flowers Linden to a young female friend and Keiko Mecheri's Osthmanthus to my other elegant friend. I gave my husband my coveted bottle of Helmut Lang Cologne- which he is totally digging! I wish someone would surprise me one year with a bottle of Carnal Flower (Ha, fat chance!).

Passing the Torch...
...Hi everyone, I am currently working my way through sample and writing reviews for this collection. What a divine priviledge to have access to such fine fragrances to review. I got a little behind with my bring "day-job" and travel and also the sweet vanilla offereings of this line were a bit overwhelming to me inspite of their delicate sillage. I will likely be wrapping up my reviews in the next week and since I am moving in 3 weeks I will be happy to forward the remaining samples to anyone else interested in taking a stab at reviewing them. Please PM me if you are interested (in the US- preferably and will happily send them to you! Thanks! Flavorite

Dead-ringer fragrances as alternative
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...I've just reviewed and then fallen madly in love with Innocente Fragilité by Chabaud. It is not available in the US as far as I am able to determine. I felt it was close to IF by Apothia in some ways- Chabaud's creation has a little something extra- better floral development. I am wondering what I could layer with IF to get a similar effect. All suggestions welcome.

I dream of one day becoming a Master Sommelier of which there are only about 200 in the world.4. I am afraid of sharks, math, leeches and water5. I hate eggplant, radishes and liver 6. Penhaligon's Lily & Spice
by Flavorite | Perfume Recommendations
...I've had this little sample for a couple of years...I tossed it aside even knowing that it was being discontinued. Now all of a sudden, it's all I want to smell. Liquid Stargazer Lily with subtle sillage. Does anyone who has sampled/owns Penhaligon's Lily and Spice know of another fragrance that is similar in low sillage and high complexity Stargazer Lily? Thanks for any and all input!

your sales relationship
by Flavorite | Parfumo Community
...I have 'a thing' going on with the Diptyque Representative at my local Nordstrom (Department Store). I appreciate his sense of metrostyle and daring in wearing even Volutes smells fine on him (considered heady creamy and femme). Also he abruptly poured out his life story which was not all fragrance and smiley faces, but bore many similarities to my own journey coincidently...instant rapport! When I told him I was moving he whipped out his card and said "Call Me if you need anything- even if I don't get the commission- I will have it sent directly to your house free of charge." Me Likey!

Hermès perfumes

You read my mind!
...How timely! I just had a crazy thought a few days ago---for 2014 I will focus on learning and appreciating the house of Hermes. Next stop is a FB of "Voyages", but after that I will go on a purely academic adventure of the entire available Hermes collection. So exciting! Cheers!

I have been.......
by Flavorite | Off Topic
...Last week of moving- back at my farm house which will remain idle until I'm ready to really retire in several years and start my own Perfume consulting business (dreams!!!). I am wondering how in the heck to safely transport 50 large bottles of perfumes-to Michigan...perhaps I should have stuck with my soap obsession...perfumes are so heartbreakingly fragile and all the more precious!
