Let's talk musk - any suggestions?
...Tinctureall:Omni:And to follow on the musk oil has a limited shelf life and must be used quicklyA little surprising thought about musk.... I have Houbigant Musk vintage and it is as good as the day it was bought. That's so gorgeous, it was my first musk, i was born in the mid fifties so I remember it well as being the best. I'm not surprised it has kept beautifully. The information I have gleaned is that NR Musk Oil contains silicone which goes off quite quickly. As I don't have any this is not likely to worry me but I believe it has been reissued as an oil and has been sold in 2014.

Oriza L. Legrand
Legrand, Roxana, Aveda
...Bought the sample pack. I tried them when the weather was hot and unfortunately had to pack them away for our winter. Relique D'Amour was my favourite but could not compete with others on my wish list, such as Tauer. I won a sample pack of Roxana's Illuminated perfumes, three concentrations of 'Impromptu' and found great similarity in the genesis of Impromptu with Oriza L. Legrand's range. I am not their champion but I respect them very much. There is a link to Aveda's Dune Primrose, the scent of daisies and herbal infusions, coumarin maybe, exist in these three lines.

Let's talk musk - any suggestions?
...Don't want to harp on but Musc Nomade is highly regarded by Elena of Perfume Shrine, Ida Meister (olfactory specialist to the point of ESP) and Katie Puckrik. I only discovered this after I fell in love with the fragrance but you can see the comments on the perfume shrine link above

Let's talk musk - any suggestions?
...Triffid:Do these remind you of musk lollies though Omni? No, can't go that far Triff, can't take it to the candy level, I wracked my brains and thought about those candy cigarettes and thought that there may have been something musky to those. I guess its like the difference between vegetal iris and orris root butter, the word is the same but the experience is different.

Let's talk musk - any suggestions?
...Musk lollies, aka smokers were so popular in my childhood and then in my teens Houbigant musk was the 'it' fragrance. Sweet white musks in the market stalls were brought in from the East. Today Etro musk, NR musk, and Annick Goutal's Musc Nomade seem beautiful to me. I believe the NR musk oil is available again at Bloomingdales. This is regarded as creamy and alluring but it is based on Egyptian Musk favoured by Carolyn Kennedy RIP.

Let's talk musk - any suggestions?
...This is so exciting. I am on a musk binge. Okay, you need to order a Musc Nomade body cream from S/Net and layer it with Kiehls, as the matching perfume is too expensive. The body cream, however, is 60% off full price and is so utterly divine I have used it lavishly

It's true, an alternative to Apres L'Ondee
...Pipette:It is always fun to experiment and play. The perfumer's master piece can only be approximated, but no matter. There will only be one but it's hard to get. People who lose their favourites will go Dr Frankenstein to get it back

It's true, an alternative to Apres L'Ondee
...On Fragrantica Reviews (Apres L'Ondee) a reviewer called Lily has found a way to layer two perfumes to make a respectable alternative to APLO. They are L'Heure Bleu in EDT and Yardley Iris. As I had all three to compare I have done the exercise. The missing cucumber note cannot be replicated but these two layered create a decent alternative, a more than passing resemblance.

Do you have a dog-walking perfume?
...Warm from sleep, a bit bleary eyed, I leave the house early in the morning to walk the dogs. They are little and big, I call them Batman and Robin, the dynamic duo. On the way out of my bedroom, before I let them out of their crates, I usually puff a little smidge of fragrance, Apres L'Ondee, Eau du Sud, Yardley Iris or Noa. The later perfume of the day is a different matter. Do you bother with perfume at this time of day? If you stroll out for coffee is the perfume choice very different?

Wanted: To layer with Musc Nomade Annick Goutal Body Cream
...Triffid:Sorry Omni! I'm not familiar with the Musc Nomade so I haven't responded. I'm glad you were able to self-serve and have found something that works. As far as soft roses go,"Rose Essentielle" by Bvlgari is rosy with a clean musk but there's also a berry note (one reason I didn't repurchase) which might render it too fruity also. Thanks for the suggestion, Triffid. I know Rose Essentialle and got tired of the Port Royal Tobacco in it. Yes, it's true you can't wait for your ship to come in, sometimes you have to swim for it LOL

Your favorite perfumer and most loved creation?
...I seem to favour perfume by Michel Almairac, Cuir Amethyste, the new Ivoire and others. I also follow JCE quite deliberately. My favourite perfumes are Chanel 19 EDP, Musc Nomade, Bal a Versailles, Y (YSL), Mitsouko, Mon Parfum Cherie Par Camille and too many to mention
