EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by PBullFriend | Parfumo Community
...the gift for beautiful metaphor that some do, and my terse, factual style seems so prosaic next to the work of Ysbrand, Coutureguru, Sherapop, jtd, Silverfire, and others. (Those were the first few who came to mind. The full list is prob 2-3 dozen.) But I'll still write a review if one of them hasn't...

A lot of people claim they can't smell SALT
by Silverfire | Off Topic
...PontNeuf:Uhmm.....I canĀ“t smell salt, I am pretty sure about that.If at all, I might be able to detect some kind of smell when holding the salt package right under my nose but never ever could I find it in seasoned foods or even in salted noodle water.Guess my nose is just not so great :(I'm the same way. Salt in the packet never smelled to me; it's just there. Sugar is the same way. Now I can taste it just fine and I can smell sea salt because it's different.

Best Smoky Burning Wood Fireside Scents
by Silverfire | Perfume Recommendations
...PBullFriend:Whee! Fall is my favorite season & I always get a big mood boost when I see it's coming! Almost time for the smoky perfumes!!!!I agree completely. Fall is MY FAVORITE season, and when it comes, I feel more alive, more real, more of everything I want to be...For smoky woods scents, you can't beat "Norne" or "Jeke" -- both by Slumberhouse.

...Samples get the samples checkbox. Everything else gets the Have. Everything that I've put on my skin gets the Tested. I like to keep it simple.

How to remove perfume?
by Silverfire | Perfume Discussions
...I've read that rubbing alcohol is supposed to do the trick, but honestly I don't think that works, with especially strong scents or with perfume oils. I'm not convinced that soap and hot water always do it, either. Does anyone have any surefire techniques, or is it a matter of scrub harder (three movies: Scrub Hard, Scrub Harder, a Good Day to Scrub Hard)?

That is precisely the kind of thing that destroys trust, both slowly as in corrosion, and quickly, as in detonation.Yes, Silverfire: it all comes down to trust. I am surprised that Apicius, an attorney by profession, does not recognize what the issue here is. It's not about me...

Some thoughts about cats and dogs
by Silverfire | Off Topic
...One of the biggest problems in an internet community is when the rules are not stated explicitly. Although I disagree with the notion that Parfumo is censoring anyone, there are limitations on freedom of speech here that are not stated explicitly -- or worse -- were changed without notifying anyone. That is precisely the kind of thing that destroys trust, both slowly as in corrosion, and quickly, as in detonation.http://www.romanticloner.com/2013/05/04/how-communities-die/It sounds like Parfumo just used Sherapop for her popularity, her efforts, and her time; then, when they had milked her dry, they changed the rules in order to drive her away.I really think that is a bad idea, morally, but it's especially a bad idea as far as consequences go in the small online community of perfume. I don't think that Parfumo will prosper if what I suspect above is true; it's an incredible risk to run, and all for what? Because someone dislikes cats? I have seen many instances of cutting off your nose to spite your face, but if true, this would be an egregious one. Sherapop:Apicius:Sherapop, does freedom of speach mean to you that everything has to be done according to your wishes? This is really becoming tedious, Apicius. As I have repeatedly indicated, I asked Don all of these questions upon my arrival. He changed the rules without telling me or anyone else (except his friends the ailurophobes), and now you act as though I have done something wrong. You guys are a bit confused about the state of this place. If you ever have a decent flow of internet traffic, it will not be because of the 18K profiles pilfered directly from Fragrantica (as is evident in every case where flagrant errors have been repeated verbatim here). No, people go to sites for NEW content, specifically, contributors' content. You act as though the contributors are worthless and only the administrators matter. As though somehow you guys do all the work. But some of the perfumes in the database here are not at Fragrantica. That's because people like me brought them here. Not only did we bring the perfume profile information, we also contributed reviews and images of the bottle, set framed beautifully by several elements, including (in the two perfume images mentioned above, and I encourage you to go look at them) a sliver of a cat.If I had been told that ailurophobes would be determining the future direction of Parfumo, I can assure you that I would never have contributed any of the nearly 1300 reviews penned here by me, nor (obviously) the nearly 500 perfume photos composed and uploaded by me.Instead of thanking me and people like me, you act as though the TIME and THOUGHT and ENERGY which we have invested in this site, through all of the various contributions which we have made, are worthless.I actually don't know what to say.

Some thoughts about cats and dogs
by Silverfire | Off Topic
...Dlane1953:Wichapi:Digindirt:...Is it even possible to train a dog to be prejudiced???Unfortunately, yes. Some people train dogs to react to specific races. In the "Old South" (or any other state with a heavy KKK membership), these were called "White Dogs". Shamefully, some dogs are still clandestinely trained to do this, from alerting presence, to tracking/hunting, to out-and-out attack. There are a few books, academic papers, and films about it.Oh, this is dreadful news. But nothing should surprise us, sadly enough. I wonder how many generations before we're all color-blind?On the other hand, I've lived in the Old South my entire life and this is the first I've ever heard of this. So, as with a lot of things, your mileage will vary.

Frags so good you can't find an occasion to wear them?
by Silverfire | Perfumes & Brands
Re: But, but, but
...NSku:AromiErotici didn't say he didn't like wearing the perfume, or it didn't fit him even though he loved it. He didn't say he didn't like the way it worked with his body chemistry. He didn't say it wasn't his style, though spectacular. He said he loved it so much, that it was so spectacular, he couldn't choose a setting or occasion to experience and let others experience the fragrance, and because he worshiped the perfume in the bottle he made himself sell it because he didn't like worshiping inanimate objects. So I can understand the second half of this, but I cannot understand how you could love a perfume but never want to smell it or express it.Actually, I'd still consider this as "fit" -- it just never seems to be the right time to wear it, for the reasons he specified. If you feel that something is too good for you, you are overawed by it, and so you shy away from it. You feel yourself unworthy of it. Maybe only some people perceive beauty that intensely that they feel themselves humbled by it? That would be sad if true.

Re: Frags so good you can't find an occasion to wear them?
...Silverfire:AromiErotici:I have been fortunate enough ( or unfortunate enough......depending upon how you look at it ) to having owned a handful of masculines so... That's why although I love "Sienne L'Hiver", I still only have a sample. It fits only a few weeks out of the year, being a rustic Christmas scent. Silverfire, maybe we're coming at it from a slightly different viewpoint than Aromi, but I certainly understand what you're saying. I covet a full bottle of...
