...I blindly bought a vintage bottle of Narcisse Eau de Toilette years ago. I tried it and found it cloying. Oh, and I hated the drydown so much! I gave it to my mom, who tucked it away, never to be seen again. After she passed away the bottle came back to me. I remembered hating it so I tried to get rid of it but no one would have it. I tried it again and FELL IN LOVE. Shout-it-from-the-rooftops kind of love. I don't know what happened but I'm so smitten with it. It reminds me of one of my biggest loves, Organza Eau de Parfum, though I can't put my finger on why this is so. I'm grateful no one would take it.I know I can't be the only one who's had this type of delayed experience. Has this happened to you? What scent was once a scrubber but is now a favorite? I'd love to know! Maybe I need to go back and try some other scents I once dismissed.

...Off topic (sort of) but I have a few ylang ylang perfumes and they smell banana-ish to my nose. Fleurs des Caraïbes is a banana-like tropical scent, akin to banana flavored Now and Later chews. I wonder if that's what's giving Songes Eau de Toilette its banana impression?

...Luckily, I haven't had any lost bottles in the mail, but I did a swap where my bottle leaked (faulty bottle design). My swap partner initially asked me to financially compensate her, even though I offered to send her perfumes back. I ended up swapping out another perfume I was reluctant to part with. I know when we swap or sell, we take chances. Since it is a decant, either offer a refund or send  another decant? If nothing else, keep the lines of communication open.

...I've sold perfumes on eBay so that's my only experience with selling perfumes.  I've had a few buyers who have claimed they were going to pay but didn't pay.  In those cases, I believe the standard wait time is 48 hours.  Are you selling through the Souk, through a website like eBay, or independently?  It sounds like it may be time to relist your perfumes.  Good luck!

...I had one, Mandarin Jasmine #994 that was pure oranges... and jasmine. However, it's not musky but rather a straightforward oranges/jasmine scent. But you have to like jasmine. Right now, Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca is satisfying that "pure oranges" craving for me. I don't detect musk but it is the entire orange tree in a bottle.

It's my summer go-to vanilla. If you don't mind oils try Vanilla Bean. It's a straightforward vanilla but it's cheap, fantastic smelling, and long lasting.

...I don't have a lot of experience with natural perfumes. I'm not entirely sure about some of the oils in my collection, maybe they count, too? But I did try a sampler by Nateeva. (St. Martin was my favorite in the sampler.) The fragrances were pretty, if not sparse, but the longevity was lacking. Longevity is my biggest issue with natural perfumes. Given their high prices and how fleeting they are on my skin, natural perfumes are hard for me to love.

I've since swapped some of my backup bottles, namely "Fancy Nights” and "Shalimar Ode à la Vanille - Sur la route du Mexique". I think if I was unable to rid myself of my excess bottles when the time came, I'd be less inclined to hoard backups.

It's very heady and all the perfume I need before bed!I agree with the original poster: a simple musk is ideal for me before bed. I use to have Dame Perfumery's "New Musk Oil", which was sublime. I don't remember what happened to my little bottle but I might need to buy a new one. I also used to use "Pour Un Homme de Caron (Eau de Toilette)" but I got bored with it. It's a comforting lavender vanilla, perfect for bedtime.
