...I must admit that a perfume´s name does catch my eye - more than the bottle.It is the name that I try to derive the perfume´s character from. For example, names with "noir"/"black", "midnight" or "oriental" etc. give me the impression that this might be a heavy, sexy and/or simply oriental fragrance full of patchouli, amber and incense.That is the theory :-)Of course, names do not always live up to my expectations. "Erotique" by Dita von Teese, i.e. is such a name. Beautiful scent (a very nice smell-alike of Wonderwood) but by no means sexy IMHO.I also admit that reading a perfume´s name sometimes initiates some sort of a "mini movie" in my head, telling me the "storyline" of the scent. Actually, I like that.

...@Scarletting : No bad intentions here, only the very best :D :D :D Yeah, I know Oud Royal is pretty expensive stuff but definitely worth a try. I like oud scents, too and have a great love for balsamic orientals (btw, do you like Ambre Fetiche by Annick Goutal ?...no oud but nonetheless VERY balsamic IMHO) but not all have worked for me. And with all the variety of oud scents out there it surely is possible to find one or two to fall in love with :-)Somebody mentioned "White Aoud" by Montale and I can also recommend that one for you. Both Oud Royal and White Aoud also have a nice sandalwood note enhancing the spiciness. A fruity (tangerine) rose-heavy oud with a nice sweetness and smokiness is "Luxor Oud" by MEMO. Very feminine, very cozy. No medicinal notes, no harshness, this one is easy to get along with.A peachy oud-scent with lots of character (meaning very heavy and strong-willed) is Boadicea the Victorious´ "Virtuous". Balsamic but it wore me out.

...First "Oud Royal" by Armani comes into my mind when reading what you are looking for.Or some of the Micallef aouds, Aoud Gourmet, i.e.

...My good old lady "Shalimar" surrounds me in a wonderful vanilla cloud :-) I am a walking Creme Brulee dessert :-)

..."Oajan" by Parfums de Marly.Smells like "Ambre Narguilé", exactly like it.I like "Oajan" and the baked-apple feel it has. Cozy, warm, an at-home fragrance for the cold season.Unfortunately, this one is almost as expensive as the one by Hermès :-(

..."Tabac Aurea"Beautiful scent, so cozy and warm. It makes me feel being at home. Sadly not available here in Germany but I was lucky and bought it from a very nice Parfumo member.

This what the Arabian Oud boutique smelled like on the Champs Elysees in Paris when I walked by and got a wonderful whiff of their smoldering oud that they burn to impress passers-by.Since then I had that aroma in mind.One oud came pretty close : "Oud Royal" by Armani but there were so many spices in there and it was a bit too strong for me, I ended up with headaches even though I loved the juice.Now : Wearing the sample today. No headaches, just pure pleasure.

...The first 35 years or so I used designer/mainstream scents exlusively (due to a lack in knowing there is so much more out there) but discovering Parfumo some years ago certainly made a change for me :-)Today I have a mixture of both designer and niche perfumes which I enjoy a lot. I do not lean towards one or the other, I just pick out what I like most and that can be mainstream or niche.

...I am the "Perfume is for use" collector and partly go to great lengths for getting my hand on a bottle of a juice I find promising (however, blind buys have become rare after some annoying drawbacks)....but this love might be over very soon.I am a feeble leaf in the scent world, today here, tomorrow there :-)My aim is not to have a large collection but one that satisfies all my strange moods. Some treasures have been with me for a longer time (and probably will be forever), others will be replaced by the latest fashion and trend.Having reduced to about 50 bottles I have now the feeling this volume is perfect for me.
