I Must Have It!!
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Digindirt:Congrats Flavor for finally taking the route of least resistance. You'll feel better soon.Yep. I went for the mini bottle- which was ridiculously priced, as well. I do feel better. Poor but happy. It put a stopper in my unquenchable hunt for almost a whole week...until I accidentally sprayed my Jo Malone's Lime Basil Mandarin sample on myself and here-we-go-again!

What new perfumes have that 'classic' potential?

Re: What new perfumes have that 'classic' potential?
...This Jo Malone "Lime Basil Mandarin" is blowing my mind! I think it could become a classic in the light fresh green citrus chypre realm.

What is Your Favorite Le Labo, Which are you curious About?
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
Re: Iris on the bus
...Omni:Big fan of Iris 39. Was on holiday in San Francisco. Spent some time at their Fillmore St shop. Caught a bus wearing Iris 39, which didn't wow me at the outset, but I fell in love with it as it developed.Oh, I am going to have to try that one again. I love Iris.. Well the City Exclusive sale ends in 2 hours for the next two years and I made it through- almost unscathed- with only purchasing a 15 ml bottle of Musc 25- love it!!! So now it's back to the non-exclusive offerings for all of us and back into Niche obscurity for Le Labo, I suspect. I think they will need to come up with a more feel good way of differentiating their brand other than making it impossible to acquire unless you're in their boutique in London, NYC, LA, San Fran, Dubai, Chicago, Tokyo...that has gotten pretty old pretty fast...Anyone else get caught up in the madness?

Best Smoky Burning Wood Fireside Scents
by Flavorite | Perfume Recommendations
...Epimedes:Sorry, didn't read the original post carefully :? I personally never get the "sausage" feel from the Burning Leaves, but the dogs must know better! If you also don't want any kind of incense, that's a real tough one...Have you tried birch tar-based scents to see if they could fit the bill? "Eau du Fier" by Goutal maybe?Actually, I am getting more keen on the idea of a mixture of smoky incense and smoky burnt wood together... I suspect the "sausage/bacon" issue has to do with the linear (albeit well done) smokehouse woodiness and my skin chemistry. Perhaps I need yo graduate to something as little more complex. I will check "Eau du Fier". Great suggestion, Thanks!

Best Smoky Burning Wood Fireside Scents
by Flavorite | Perfume Recommendations
..."Burning Leaves"- I want to love this- but I feel that it makes me smell like bacon...not really a problem, but the dogs can be rather annoying, trying to nibble on me all night long and my husband is vegan. I'm not ready to give up on it quite yet...layering suggestions, Anyone?

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Flavorite | Parfumo Community
...Scarletting:Thanks Hayven. I've decided to cannibalise my previous Fragrantica comments towards newer, updated reviews here. The collection database here is so organised and neat, I love what the creators have done. I'm going to enjoy going through and completing each page for my perfumes one by one. The messy commentaries on Fragrantica seem ridiculous now. The only thing I might miss is the clickable personal detection of notes, I did find that helpful when looking for new scents.I do agree, sometimes it is nice to search by specific notes...like when you want a "Coffee" fragrance, etc. I love the easy on the eyes lay out here with the tabs and maybe eventually it will expand to have some kind of note specific search or a way to do a term search for notes...but for now, I search via Bing/Google and get my info and then get more info here once I've got it narrowed down.

Tom Ford's Champaca Absolute Champaca Absolute - Tom Ford
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
Re: Champaca Absolute
...Omni:I was given two generous samples by a SA at Nieman Marcus, one of these was Champaca Absolute and the other was Arabian Wood. The SA told me that her husband, tired of perfume, preferred it when she didn't wear any, but that she wore CA on her wedding day and that he loved it on her. We were in Hawaii at the time and I can imagine that it developed beautifully in a hot humid climate. When I returned home, to winter, Champaca seemed like an imposter, a wannabe and just too sweet for me.That is fascinating...I just had an initial impression that it was a little high pitched...but my first impressions of fragrances are sometimes wrong, especially when I'm on a fragrance testing bender. But it seems like this is a common feeling...too sweet and trying too hard....hmmm

Score! Your best deals in men's cologne?
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Another crazy (accidental) Score... I asked for a bottle of Jo Malone's Café Vetyver for an Anniversary gift, figuring it's great on Men and women alike and it really smells better on the fellas in my book, but still I wanted it in my collection. The place I purchased from accidently sent me the tester with no box, when I called to ask them about this and said how embarrassed my husband was to present this to me (that part I embellished a bit...he couldn't care less about the box)...they said return it- no problem...then they sent me a brand new full bottle of Rosewater & Vanilla, plus another brand new full bottle of Café Vetyver plus a travel bottle of Lime, Mandarin Basil- also smells better on the fellas, IMHO... and a weird mirror covered velvet lined watch/jewelry box (?!). When I called they said, no just keep it all with our apologies. Score!!! My Fragrance Karma is improving.

Comments on perfumes: compliments and insults
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Flavorite:I recently applied a dab of Philosophy's "Amazing Grace" after a shower and right before bed and my husband- who rarely notices any of my fragrances, woke up out of sound sleep yelling that he thought perhaps one of the "Box Elder Bugs"/"stinkbugs" we saw earlier in our yard had gotten inside the bed room and gotten angry (they release a horrid smelling defense substance when attacked- like skunks, only more like herbal grassy garbage). Then I said smell my arm and he said "Yes, that's what I smell. You'd better get out right now and shower again!:cac2e3d15c]Wow, that's strong. Hope you haven-t bought a full bottle of the juice.Of course I have! A fool is a fool above all else! It is hiding in my closet with all the other rejects!

...Franfan20:Flavorite:Question: I've been searching for NM "Fireside" for the Autumn...is it discontinued?Do you mean "Afire" maybe? Yes, I must have meant "Afire" I think I confused that one with Sonoma Studio's "Fireside Intense" Sorry. I guess that answers my question, since I see it is still available on their website. Thanks!

Score! Your best deals in men's cologne?
by Flavorite | Perfumes & Brands
...Triffid:Flavorite, the golden rule for "bargain" buys is to comfort yourself with how much you saved compared to a full price purchase, rather than how much you actually spent!Indeed! This was still a score, IMO! I'm going to give one to my father and hopefully his bottle of totally offensive "Versace Man Eau Fraiche" (no offensive if this is your Favorite, I personally, just can't be in the same room with anyone wearing this without becoming nauseated) Helmut Lang will help to disappear it from his rotation when I visit. Wink wink.
