The cookies follow ... do you buy?
by Pipette | Off Topic
...How often have you bought because the cookies followed you?It is amazing ... the minute you click on some sort of merchandise, perfume or otherwise, the cookies will travel to other sites you visit. Then they glare at you, buy me, buy me, perfume, watch, jacket or otherwise. When the item is really desirable, you will click on the cookie again, and yes, a discount may then be thrown your way.Big Brother of Merchandising is watching. Have I succumbed? Yes, I have. More than once.Your stories -

What is your "Holy Grail" of perfume?
by Pipette | Perfumes & Brands
..."La Route d'Emeraude (2012)" by Isabey. It is so beautiful that I don't wear it every day, nor was it named as my signature. Everyday perfumes have to be less demanding, one cannot eat caviar every day.

Passing on the perfume passion - how young?
by Pipette | Parfumo Community
...For those of you who have small children or young relatives, how soon do you actually pass on your perfume passion?Like - freshly laundred baby clothes with a nice smell.Like - a nice scented lotion for a toddler.Like - a little gift of a decant for a six-year old girl.Like - a well-chosen cologne for an eight-year old boy.**********************************************I am only guessing. And I did make gender differences. With all that talk that perfumes are 'harmful', well-chosen input into the growing youngsters is not wrong. We want to pass on what is important and beautiful to us.

The new season of THE APPRENTICE
by Pipette | Off Topic
...Who is watching the umptieth season of THE APPRENTICE ?For a while now, it has been a selection of contenders who are well-known celebrities. They win at a task competition and make money for their charity. I always enjoy the competitive spirit. What is fair about the decision of who is being fired, it sometimes a matter of opinion. Here is a link to Season 14, Episode 2 on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEY2cdgDUFU

What was the funniest thing that happened at your Christmas?
by Pipette | Off Topic
...Dear Greysolon, you are not hi-jacking this thread, this is chit-chat.Christmas is now over, and people go into their more serious pathways. Taxes, projections for 2015, and so on. The cold weather does not help either.Christmas is the time for family togetherness. Well-meant gifts and thoughtfulness. A season to splurge and give something of a surprise. Something that maybe the recipient always wanted. But to get a surprise factor, one will have to observe and guess during the course of the whole year, and then buy the item and stash it away for the next Christmas. If it misfires ? Well, then it will be re-gifted (remember the Seinfeld show). :)

(This is not hidden advertising for that shop.) Here is my attempt - Mon ParfumU. Idle chit chat: what's the weather like where you live
by Pipette | Off Topic
...New York - first snow here too. So the people are taking the bus and are all wrapped up and don't even loosen their wrappings inside the bus and having that stoic look on the face. (Just get to work and shut up.)

DIY - who has created a nice perfume for themselves?
by Pipette | Perfumes & Brands
...There is a topic on the German twin site where a member mixed three nice classic perfumes and obtained a satisfactory result. He loves it, although it is strong.Have you (other than layering) ever mixed true perfumes and obtained something special and maybe even gave it a name? Was it wearable? If it were so easy, many talented novice mixers could already be making money from it.

What's going on?? Why the lifeless forum?
by Pipette | Parfumo Community
...Okay. The list is 133 pages long. That just shows the multitude of perfumes issued each year.I got as far as page 11. Among the contenders were "Black Flower Mexican Vanilla" of which I tested a sample. Deep dark vanilla, earthy. I wrote a review about it.Then there was "Spirituelle" by Divine. Nice and crisp according to the promotional paper sample the company had mailed me.I was underimpressed by "Hedonist Iris" by Viktoria Minya. The best sample of hers was "Hedonist Rose" - a nice oriental. Now I had to stop doing because my little charge (my grandson -see Profile photos) was let loose alone and littered the living room floor with books, toys, doggie toys, clutter all around - it looks like a tsunami. Safety first.I could go through the rest of the 133 pages but it is just too much. Why are we snowed under with so many releases each year? Because it is easy for the industry to do so,.Then only the most talked about fragrances will get followers. Parfumo as a Forum and place for reviews has something to do with this. Besides they want to make an encyclopedia of all perfumes of the world. What a job, but that task is already fulfilled better than on any other Forum I know.- Station Break - :)

What's going on?? Why the lifeless forum?
by Pipette | Parfumo Community
...So I went to "Black Opium" assuming that it was issued 2014, and clicked on to 2014, and found this:http://www.parfumo.com/Perfumes/Release_Year/2014 Wow. I did not know Parfumo had that feature. Now I will just peruse that list and see. Give me some time.

What's going on?? Why the lifeless forum?
by Pipette | Parfumo Community
...I say if we adopt the Fragrantica pitter-patter chit chat manner or the lively interactive pitter-patter of the German twin site and just talk ... the Forum would have livelier conversations. Talk, talk, talk.Don't be afraid to be criticized.Think of Facebook. Just throw something in, a thought, a view, preferably perfume-related.

Which were your personal favorites this last year?
by Pipette | Perfumes & Brands
...The year 2014 is over. Lists abound which scents were popular, that is which were most often sold. But which were your own personal favorites, either that you bought them new or that you wore them most often from your collection?I will start:"Tonka Imperiale" by Guerlain - a tonka scent with a sleek edge, good for every day"Traversee du Bosphore" by L'Artisan Parfumeur - a trip to candy land"La Route d'Emeraude (2012)" by Isabey - jasmin in its finest, lush and beautiful"Grain de Soleil" by Fragonard - cozy comfort at reasonable price"Shem-el-Nessim" by Grossmith - old fashioned vibe "Jean-Louis Scherrer" by Jean-Louis Scherrer - cool aloof eleganceEtceteraJust for the pleasure of reading a blog author elaborate on this topic, let me include this link to Kafka's blog. This woman writes! I love to read her evaluations although they are subjective - as is any perfume commenting.http://www.kafkaesqueblog.com/2014/12/30/2014-in-review-30-personal-favorites/

What's going on?? Why the lifeless forum?
by Pipette | Parfumo Community
...The discussions would be livelier if everyone would just read and react and "throw something in" instead of being polite and measured. There is plenty of life on the German twin site where the crowd is larger. One fate of all Forums is that people come and go.

Does incense draw attraction?
by Pipette | Perfumes & Brands
...Off topic - It is strange that some perfumes are "interesting", and the wearer wears them but does not get any compliments.IMHO, compliments are most often given for comfort perfumes which contain vanilla or seem cozy.Name a few examples of "interesting" perfumes when you got compliments.

Another Game: Music For Perfume!
by Pipette | Parfumo Community
...I believe Apicius started the thread by simply matching great perfumes with great music. So, if you sniff a perfume ... and a certain piece of music comes to your mind, orvice versa, if you hum a great tune, and that would bring to mind a certain perfume, like that. The only improvement I would suggest, like the Fragrantica software has the tools,SHOW THE PERFUME AS AN IMAGEandSHOW THE VIDEO AS A VISUAL IMAGEThat makes a great inviting thread.
