...What an incredible likeness. As stated above, I will leave it to someone else to post a clue (perhaps one of those shy, mystery readers who do not feel they have had a chance in the game?).

...I'm guessing Mona di Orio (1969-2011) whose death, at 42 from surgical complications, was unexpected and tragically young. She was apprentice to the great perfumer Edmond Roudnitska but for some reason Luca Turin seemed to despise her and wrote many withering reviews of her fragrances. If this answer is correct, I will pass the next clue on to someone else to post.

...Cryptic wins the prize with "Calandre" whose name refers to a car's radiator grille. The similarities to "Metal", which came 10 years later, are obvious: both by Spanish designer Paco Rabanne, both share a sleek, metal-framed bottle design, and the 'metal' theme with use of rose oxide in Calandre to (supposedly) iimpart the feel of hot metal.

...Cryptic, you are VERY close. The two perfumes have quite a bit in common.Sorry Cema, Bandit is not the one I had in mind. The designer was born in a different European country although the perfume name is French.

...Your impression of "Le Temps d'une Fete" is interesting. Whilst it's not a 'fresh' floral in the manner of many modern laundry-clean compositions, I don't get decaying flowers either. Having said that, I can totally see where you're coming from; I find that hyacinth often has a vegetal, fleshy (as in succulent) almost meaty note that can waver between green, floral purity and something close to the smell at the bottom of the vegetable crisper.

...That is really not too far from the look of my kitchen after a baking frenzy/fry up.As to your clue, my immediate thought was something by Clive Christian, overpriced and housed in one of those Crown perfumery look-alike bottles (perhaps he kept them as a memento after he acquired, then tossed, the brand). So, there's the tall, black "X" bottles, the "C" and "W" that he presented to famous Brits Cate and Wills on their nuptials (not black bottles but apparently in a fancy black presentation box) or, my pick, the one below - is named after the year that, over a century ago, Crown Perfumery was founded. 'The Crown' also happens to be a song by Everlast and "The Everlasting Guilty Crown' is a song by Egoist.

...You should also try "Jean-Louis Scherrer" , one of the best green chypres ever. Not sure I'd classify "First" as a chypre - I've always considered it a classic floral aldehyde.

...I only have one from this house "Le Temps d'Une Fete" - a beautiful green floral. The listed notes suggest it should be classified as a chypre but it doesn't wear like a chypre to me - it's a dewy, spring-like green floral. There are no stockists in Australia for PdN so I opted for a blind buy (based on notes and reviews) when Mr Triffid went to Paris. They are well-priced for a niche brand and I'd like to try more. A few reviewers have been disappointed at the reformulations, pawrticularly "New York" and "Odalisque" but Im not in a position to comment on that aspect.

...Spot on with your answer. I thought it might be too hard without the house clue but for you, probably not.Gitanes...blechhhh...your strategy works! I once had a boyfriend who went through a phase of watching old films and smoking those disgusting things. Not only did I never bludge a second one, he was banned from pretty much any indoor space in my company. They were a step above Indonesian clove cigarettes and Camels but it was a close thing.I could do the helmet in paper mache but, hmmm, not cool outside of school pantomime. I'm intrigued by your offer of a viking shield though.
