I have been.......
by Anessa | Off Topic
...doing some research for the source of the texts produced by this couple of bored? people who lately registered and seem to have fun copying, editing and patching other people's reviews to post them as their own here.I am sure they are now having a good laugh at the whole show.Since their comments and statements could be traced back to the originals on another website, I sincerely hope parfumo will not wait long to take care removing these products of plagiarism from the pages, in order to maintain a certain integrity and quality of this site, compared to somewhere else where such is tolerated for the sake of quantity.

Decant vs. Sample
by Anessa | Perfumes & Brands
...Parfummaniac:Thanks Tar, I always thought that samples are manufactured by the brand for promotion and testing. So these are for me samples to test before buying a full bottle.I've never had any experiences with decants yet, but I agree that samples are for testing and, if made by the brand, especially for promotion. That is why some brands admit they made samples "thicker/more concentrated" than the actual bottles of the same fragrances (the version the consumer will purchase in the end), in order to "provide the tester a more intense experience of the same fragrance". I myself have noticed this in a lot of fragrances where the samples smelt considerably different than the purchased bottle-version, and I saw some people even going after a bunch of mini-flacons (like hunting for 10x 5ml) instead of just getting the usual 50ml-bottle and be done with it.In this sense, I am not sure if a sample could always be regarded as closer to the 'original' than a decant of an actual bottle.PS. But one thing I agree with everyone here, that samples will not have a minor quality than the full bottle product :)

Perfumes that remind you of Christmas
by Anessa | Perfumes & Brands
...CaféCafé - smells sweet, hot and spicy like Glühwein at the Christmas Market"L'Agent@Agent Provocateur" - evokes the crib figures, also the life sized ones during Christmas seasonI think there wouldn't be any specific scent related to Christmas from my country, though. The smell of snow?Briarthorn:On Christmas day I always wear Vagabond Prince's Enchanted Forest. It smells like Yule to me. I love the transition it goes trough. Like walking through a cold evergreen forest and then entering the house full of spiced rum and baked goods with the Yule log crackling in the hearth.Sounds beautiful. This as well:ScentedSalon:My favorite is Winter Delice: it is not only red berries and resin but also pine.Missed a great one!

Why do perfumers use these days such heavy bottles?
by Anessa | Perfume Discussions
...I understand the problem and also your annoyance, Parfummaniac, and I am sure you are not the only one with this. It is bad enough when even with much less expensive fragrances, I refill an atomiser, or just try opening a tiny sample vial with these hard plastic caps, and then spill it on my fingers, hands and on my desk... besides losing most of the content, if a fragrance is not to my liking, the hands 'reeking' of it is another matter.Being off topic, I had to think about those glass jars for facial creams, and some have such unneccesarily heavy, thickened bottom, multiple times the weight of the actual 30ml or 50ml cream... rather unhandy, and only takes up space wherever you want to store them, it's not like it would need that weight so we won't have it 'flying around' in the drawer. Does anyone actually appreciate such containers as signs of 'high quality' and means to justify the high price, I wonder (as if every heavy glass was close to leaded crystal)?

...course you can comment @Anessa. Personally I think it's shameless to pay € 180,- for a bottle just because of the appearance. I buy the fragrances because of the liquid not what...

Why do perfumers use these days such heavy bottles?
by Anessa | Perfume Discussions
...I am not dealing with fragrances in that price range, so I might not be the one to comment, but I understand your pain, especially with leaking! If they aim for the feeling of 'quality' using heavy milk bottle-like glass and metal caps instead of slim bottles (and perhaps plastic cap), the leaking sounds more than embarassing in that effort... so, it's again more about keeping up appearances.I could imagine some people saying, they are meant as handy means of self-protection. Sounds as if they are rather meant to be displayed than actually used? I can only hope that the trend will take another direction...

The 'symphony' of a perfume
by Anessa | Perfumes & Brands
...Parfummaniac:I can imagine when you got completely hit by music it's really tough to concentrate on a fragrance and so is the other way around too. It also depends on the mood you're in, sometimes it's easier to get lost, no matter in what form of art. Yes , I consider perfume as a form of art, to smell from the outside but it can touch you deep on the inside, just like music.I saw an earlier article about fragrances matched with tea (intended to be worn while enjoying tea), and had to think whether there are fragrances to accompany tasting wines - it somewhat sounds counterproductive, but perhaps it's in the direction of "perfumes that go well with smoke/booze" etc. For music and fragrances, I really wish I could concentrate so much as to delve deeply in both at the same time. However, it doesn't have to be even music but some kind of noise, and I can't concentrate on the smell (or hardly on anything else) :(I also do appreciate fragrances as art, or I tend to be drawn to those that seem to be art (while using 'functional' fragrances for every day), since my love for perfumes started as such (Diorissimo), but then, I wonder if scents of flowers in the nature are 'art' as well, when they can't be reproduced, even when they do not evoke deep or complex feelings inside, but only an instant euphoria? I have a flower especially in mind and haven't found any fragrance containing its smell yet.

... It works! For me, Cabotine RoseCabotine RoseIt seems that there are still minor fixes needed, especially for the different concentrations.A propos concentrations, I also read that clicking on the grey field next to the perfume name stating the concentration of the current perfume, props a drop down list suggesting all the existing other concentrations of the same perfume :) It also in the test phase for now, so many perfumes only show one concentration, but some are already being implemented, "Dune@Dior" for instance.
