Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by Hayven | Parfumo Community
...Sorceress:What an anomaly that they wouldn't be interested in other perfume sites. Is that from personal knowledge? I certainly understand beginning lurking, but those that are so passionate about perfume, you would think would want to share their insights, etc...Yes, it's just casual feedback/personal knowledge from some members I talk to from time to time on Fragrantica. It really comes down to someone's preference on how information is presented. Some people like the visuals of the notes, others like the graphs; maybe both. Parfumo doesn't highlight new releases on the main site; whereas Fragrantica presents new designer, niche, and celebrity perfume articles on their front page which makes it a little easier for people to find out about new fragrances. I guess for a hyperbole of comparison: back in 2005, I preferred Facebook over Myspace. Facebook was simpler with one feed and the ability to add photo albums or write on friend's walls within your college network. MySpace was a menagerie of pictures, friends, music, etc but also with photo albums and a wall to write on. Now Facebook has evolved into a similar way, but the media is presented in such a manner that I like better than MySpace.

...Sorceress, this is so true. One time I commented on a Youtube video containing someone making a funny face and I said, "I make that face at my boyfriend sometimes". I was bombarded with all sorts of negative comments. It was as if it was an offence to say I was in a relationship! I can't imagine what people in other kinds of relationships have to go through in person. The original poster did give her input. She started a thread titled, "Thank you Zoka for a very detailed and sweet explanation".

...I have been...back and forth on a plane for a day (two days ago) to attend a job interview out of state. I got the job. I start mid-November which will give me plenty of time to move, settle in, and get some time at the poolside. 8) I still have another paycheck coming in from my previous job with my PTO cashed out so I'll be fine until then.

...Scarletting:I'm aware they'd probably ban me for such flagrant recruiting which is not even normally my style... the paper-thin apology from Zoka bothered me. It's good I have to rush to get ready for an appointment now, gives me time to reconsider doing such a thing! It surprises me how few Fragrantica members know about your awesome site here.Quite a few members are aware of Parfumo...they either just don't post in the forums, or they aren't interested in it.

...Pipette:I have been drilling myself to catch an early bus for the time when I shall be babysitting my first grandchild. The baby is due on November 5th, the babysitting starts in January. Then there will be snow and ice ... and umbrella, and gloves, and ... and ... The least I can do is do the drill now with the alarm clock at 5:00 AM and out the door at 5:30 AM and "pretend" to take the bus early on at the bus stop in front of the building to Mineola out in Long Island. I did a few actual test runs already, to be at the door in Mineola at 7:30 AM sharp, so that new mom can depart with the car to Manhattan. That will keep me on my toes. What a commute! But it will be worth it to be part of the little one's life.

The value of re-gifting
by Hayven | Off Topic
...I have gifted quite a few bottles to my mother for holidays and birthdays. Thankfully, she has worn and liked most of them and never commented on them being used. She's very happy with her little luxuries.

...There are thousands of people posting over on Fragrantica as opposed to maybe a few hundred (very rough estimate) posting on Parfumo International. I imagine it's more difficult trying to moderate their forums compared to here.I didn't read the thread in question--it didn't pertain to me or pique my interest. If administration wants to delete any topics I started, I personally don't care. Fragrantica is someone's site (the forums are called a club for a reason) in which their rules must be followed. I don't agree with censorship being questioned because you can practice free speech anywhere else if you so choose...which is probably more effective than on a fragrance discussion forum. It was said time and time again there was no political agenda and I assume there never was. It was just another topic that wasn't agreeable with all members.

How much Bling do you need?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...How about those Agonist blown-glass bottles? They cost way more than the plain ones. I do collect Nina Ricci bottles for their looks (and sometimes smell), but at least they are not all that expensive.

...AromiErotici:All year I have been beat-down busy working as a chef. After 25 years of it, I was extremely unhappy with having less time for my personal life and just simply being physically drained. Two weeks ago I grew a set of balls and put my notice of resignation in.I had no safety net as far as another job waiting in the wings. That's how unhappy I had become. Now, I find myself in what is probably the most distrusted profession on earth.Say hello to a new Cadillac salesman. 8)Nice!! I am going through a similar phase in my life, albeit not 25 years' worth. I hope you enjoy what you do at your new job and congratulations!

...Sorceress, any update on the baby? When's the expected arrival? I don't know much about child development. I have been making homemade sashimi. I'll let you know how I feel in a few hours...or maybe I'll die of food poisoning (!). I'm a risk taker.

What new perfumes have that 'classic' potential?
by Hayven | Perfumes & Brands
...Dulcemio:Hayven:I'm going to barge in with a designer and say Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.Hahaha! Yeah, we gotta keep it real surrounded by all these hoity-toities, don't we Hayven? :lol:I was thinking "Coromandel" but thought maybe it's too sweet and delicious to be a classic, since most of those tend to be more on the serious, intellectual end of the spectrum, such as Chanel No. 5. But then I see someone else already mentioned it.You got it. ;D (Sorry, just saw this post now)I figured a classic is something that sells well (but I guess celebrity perfumes are that way too...but that's a whole 'nother story/debate) and seems generally liked by the public. But niche and more higher-end stuff is making their way into more people's sniffers.

How did you hear about Parfumo?
by Hayven | Parfumo Community
...Scarletting:I tried to find a perfume I knew existed on another perfume site, they didn't have it listed. After some googling, I found it here and was very impressed by the features and database available.Pie graphs! Eee!And individual ratings for scent, sillage, and longevity too...*swoons*

...Has the ginger oil persisted, Dlane? ;)I have been...reapplying to many jobs tonight. I finally got my license. I had to prod the board of nursing a few times. My friend got her license in FL and said it should only take 24 hours for fingerprints to be read, and here I am waiting over 2 weeks. So I sent an email asking about the progress on my application and I got an "oops, we forgot to update our database and we'll have your license mailed out today" sort of reply. Sigh...

Boozy fruits
...@Scarletting, I swapped that one away and told myself I would buy it again someday...and then I forgot to. Time to get that one back! @Dolby, looks like I will be delving into some Frapin or Byredo, which I thought of prior to opening the topic but just needed a little confirmation. Thank you. x
