Politically incorrect fragrance notes?
by Anamandy | Perfume Discussions
...Banning language is to ban free thinking and speech. Someone should send the British Society of Perfumers a copy of a book from their fellow countryman, which they apparently never read - George Orwell's 1984.When I think of Oriental for fragrances, I think of something that is full of the spice of life.  And that is not a bad thing.

Do you store your frag in the box?
by Anamandy | Perfume Discussions
...I keep mine in a cabinet out of the box but am considering putting them back in after I heard a horror story about someone who kept them the same way and the leg of her cabinet broke and all the perfumes crashed to the ground, breaking most of the bottles along with the glass shelves they were on. Besides the loss of the perfumes, she also had such a big mess to clean up that she had to call in a specialty cleaning service that deals with disaster cleanups, like after fires and floods. The loss was literally in the thousands of $s.

Do Le Labo fragrances have to be refrigerated?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Thank you. I had also written to Le Labo and this is the response I got today -Thank you for reaching out to us!As with most precious things, perfumes are very fragile. From the day of formulation, a perfume will last around 2 years if it is stored correctly. It is ideal to store the perfumes in darkness, in cool temperatures.Once the bottle has been opened, use the contents as quickly as possible or keep it in your fridge for a longer and genuine olfactive rendering. 2 years would be the cut off of the genuine original olfactive quality. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.Thank you and have a great day!So, apparently, they are telling me I can keep it in the fridge, but the scent will eventually change. But isn't that true of every fragrance? Besides, they didn't really answer my questions to them which was do natural ingredients need to be refrigerated and do they cold age their scents? That is what I heard about their fragrances through the years.

Do Le Labo fragrances have to be refrigerated?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...I heard that a few times already and don't know how true it is or not. I'm assuming that maybe they use a lot of naturals, like Hiram Green does, and to keep the scents from going bad they should be refrigerated. That is just a guess on my part. If anyone knows, please fill me in. Thanks.

Beware if You Want to Sell Any of Your Perfumes
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...For 2023 the IRS kept it at 200 sales or $20K in sales.  For 2024 you can sell up to $5K before being issued a 1099.  But that doesn't mean that you shouldn't report your sales, because we do not know whether the selling platform has issued that information to the IRS or not. The best thing to do is keep all your receipts when you buy a perfume and all the info when you sell a perfume. You might even show a loss in the end. Also, on all selling platforms, you can opt out of your personal info being supplied to the buyer. Inquire about it at the selling platform you use.

Goods returned by Deutche Post
by Anamandy | Parfumo Community
...I don't know how it works in your country, but in the US you can send perfumes, but they have to be declared as such and sent ground. It takes longer to get there but it does get delivered.  So, I suggest you go to you post office and ask them how they can be sent. There must be a way because manufacturers have to send them out to stores and customers too. There are also other shipping services that you can use like DSL and FedEx, among others, so you are not just stuck with having to use the government shipping service. Hope this helps.

What perfume have you bought recently?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Just purchased a bottle from the first year (2013) it was made of J'Adore Voile de Parfum. I made a lowball offer of a seller who sells housewares, so I guess they didn't know anything about perfumes, and the seller accepted. Lucky Me!  Just a heads up for anyone buying fragrances on an auction site. Before you buy that perfume, look at the seller's other items. If they sell anything other than perfumes, chances are they don't know much or anything about them, and just want to get rid of them. So, if they are accepting offers you can lowball it. You might not get the item all the time, or they might come back with a counteroffer, but you will get that perfume cheaper than the original listed price. From the items the seller I purchased from had I think he/she was an estate seller who just wanted to unload what they have, which was a win for both of us.

What will Santa bring?
by Anamandy | Perfume Discussions
...Either Un Lys by Serge Luten's or Out in the Open by A13. I'm mad about them but they are super expensive. I've been tossing around hints to everyone. 🤣

État libre d'orange - favorites across brand?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...Yes I Do and Putain des Palaces. I don't have bottles of either though because I have too many other fragrances that I like and wear more. I just have big decants for when I feel like wearing them on occasion.

Spraying perfume on clothing that lingers for days
by Anamandy | Perfume Discussions
...I always put on fragrance and let it dry before getting dressed. The rare exceptions are with light fragrances. But I try to avoid fragrances I have to spray on my clothes.

Nishane, opinions?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...The ones I've tried I loved and bought bottles were Tuberoza and Nanshe. I'm frugal too so I wait for sales and also use shopping app extensions, like Rakuten and Microsoft Shopping.  You can also buy large decants on places like ScentSplit if you don't want to buy a bottle. If you have a large wardrobe that might be the way to go.

Warning about Guerlain Bee Bottles
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...I haven't had issues with the Aqua Allegoria bottles yet. It seems to be an issue with the bee bottles. But I guess the Aqua Allegoria bottles might be screw top too, in which case you should check. If it is wet around the sprayer where you are wiping the atomizer it could be that the perfume is evaporating. Maybe you should consider decanting it into a different atomizer bottle. I put plumbers' tape around the assembly, and I took a black marker and marked the level in the bottle to see if it goes down. If it does, then I know it is still evaporating, and I will decant it to another bottle.

Warning about Guerlain Bee Bottles
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...By accident I found out some information about the bee bottles that I am not too happy about. I have a bee bottle of Jicky, and I noticed that it seems to be going down faster than I am using it. I picked up the bottle to see what was going on and as I pulled off the cap the whole assembly of the sprayer came off. Apparently, the sprayer screws on and off as there are threads on the bottle where the sprayer screws onto it. I checked a few bee bottles of different perfumes that I got directly from Guerlain, and some had the same screw top assembly though the ones that wouldn't screw off I noticed had what looked like a very faint silicone or something like that. So, apparently, they put silicone or something like that around the threads and then the sprayer gets screwed on. I screwed it back on, but I am considering putting silicone around the base where the sprayer meets the bottle, so it doesn't happen again. The edt is my favorite version and as I only have this bottle the last thing I need is for this to evaporate away. Just putting this warning out there to make others aware that the sprayer can get loose and to check your bottles.

Anyone else excited for autumn?

...Thank you, Gourmandgrl, it is a little better. The media is not talking about it as much as they were before, so I am assuming Canada has gotten the fires under control.

What do you think of Zara, Dua, et al?
by Anamandy | Perfumes & Brands
...I've only tried a few fragrances from Zara and fell in love with one of them. Their Fleur d'Oranger is as good as anything on the market today from even the best perfume houses. This is one of their original fragrances created by Jo Malone. Be Layered does some pretty good dupes.  Some of them smell almost identical to the actual fragrances they are copying.

Anyone else excited for autumn?
by Anamandy | Off Topic
...I love Autumn but my favorite time of year is Winter. But I am not looking forward to Autumn or Winter this year because we've hardly had any Spring or Summer. Below normal temperatures, lots of rain, and on days where it is nice, lots of smoke from the Canadian wildfires where you had to stay shut up indoors. It's been a total bummer so far.
