Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Community
...Sorceress:florette:For the most part Fragrantica just seems to be a lot of pretentious people arguing about subjects of which they have BROADLY varying levels of knowledge on in some kind of competition for who can be the most liberal human being on the planet. What IS obvious is that they are so blindly self involved that they do not realize that they are bigoted in an inverted sense - They believe they are open minded. The reality is that they are liberal bigots; so aggressively anti conservative(which hypocritically makes them ULTRA conservative) that they have blinkers on to any other methods of approaching subjects other than the most ‘politically correct’ one. This is hindering in many ways and what is worse is that there will never be (in the near future) a time where this way of thinking will not be perpetuated and applauded by their conceited peers.Pipette, pardonnez moi pour avoir dit, mais vous semblez fassent de fixation de règles.Je n'ai fait part mes observations. Sujet suivant...I'd have to agree here. After reading some of the responses, I'd laugh to myself. People would preface their answers with "I'm straight, but I used to be experimental", "I watched a movie recently about a lesbian couple, and they were quite charming", "I'm straight, but I've had the pleasure to be experimental", then there were many "I am straight" answers, and of course there was the obligatory "I'm not gay and I don't understand them, but...". The original question was "We have threads on what men find attractive on women, and what women find attractive on men, so I thought I'd create a thread for gay women. Also, it would be great if you could specify what type of woman you're into, so as to better gauge your fragrance picks."So I can see how this topic became out of hand. When people began describing their fantasy lesbian lover, it's not a perfume discussion. But it also was a forum post that seemed a little odd. Why did the poster need to know what type of woman you're into? When we describe our favorite perfumes for our mates, be them male or female, do we ever say what their physical attributes are? And that's what people began answering in their posts, some with pictures, too. So it became a forum of fantasy, not one of actual factual answers, because few gay women were responding. My first thought was of a person sitting at home imagining what the posters had just written, because they had given images in their responses. It was just weird.Wow, I really don't think people are like that over there. I've been a member over there for a couple years and everyone is usually genuinely nice, helpful, and generous.Okay, so lesbian fantasies take the topic a little too far, I get it. And yes, some of those women were totally heterosexual. But as a woman, married to a man, with previous experience with women, I feel I have at least an opinion on the matter. And who's to tell me I'm wrong? I find women very attractive- both sexually and otherwise, but I am for the most part straight. I can't have an opinion on the matter? Also asking what kind of women they are into is totally relevant. It's the same as asking what type of man a woman is into. Maybe a "mans man" wants a more rugged scent- something with leather and spice. Or maybe a guy that's a surfer who wears board shorts all day wants something more aquatic. I know lots of lesbians who have completely different tastes, and for the most part I've known ones who were quite butch and would prefer more manly scents and ones who were more femme and liked more "girly" scents. What's wrong with that??

Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Community
...Pipette:The only unusual thing is that Fragrantica blocks references to Parfumo with ##SPAM## whereas Parfumo allows references and links to Fragrantica topics which can be shared. For instance, there was a long topic "The Arabic Perfume Oil Experiment" which I started over at Fragrantica, and I brought in the link for the Parfumo members to read - and nothing was "spam-blocked". That is peculiar to Fragrantica that Management sees the need to filter out references to Parfumo.Meanwhile word of mouth advertising brings in new members every day. It's not just Parfumo. A lot of other sites will get that response on Fragrantica as well, such as myperfumesamples.com. They just try to avoid spam of all kind. I don't think they are singling out Parfumo at all.

Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Community
...Apicius:Was it a woman who opened this thread or a man? This should make a difference. All I have to say is, yes, it was a gay woman who started the thread. Some heterosexual, bisexual, and homosexual women commented on the thread. From what I read and posted (in the first several pages), there was nothing inappropriate. I suppose someone made a gay bashing comment later on, which should have just been removed, but instead the admin deleted all threads and two subsequent ones demanding answers.I don't see the problem in a gay woman asking what fragrances women like on women. Men post things like that in the "Perfume Selections for Men" threads with no problem, and heterosexuals do it on a regular basis! It's not saying that lesbians only like a certain type of scent or anything like that. It's just one woman asking for advice, and personally I have smelled some amazing smelling women!

How do you use the collection list?
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Community
...Pipette:Somewhere, I forgot when, it could have been on the German twin site, the issue was raised whether in HAVE everything should be listed. Sure, theoretically that is true for a count, buton the Perfume Page of the individual Perfume a column exists on the right hand side, whoever else HAS such and such perfume. In my humble opinion, under the category HAVE only full bottles should be listed, because otherwise the column on the Perfume Page grows out of bounds. Maybe that could be made a Rule??Hmmmm, I do see your point. I wonder though, what constitutes a full bottle? I have a "bottle" of vintage Chanel No 5 parfum, but it's only 7 mL. To me it's a FB, and will take me forever to use, but it's rather small on the grand scale. Or what about my 30 mL decant of Omnia. It's not in a manufacturer bottle, but it will last me quite a long time. I also have some 15 mL bottles. Ava Luxe, for example, only sells 15 mL bottles of EDP or parfum. Would that be a full bottle? Maybe someone has 7 mL of oud or some attar that comes in a small bottle. Or maybe they have a sample from House of Matriarch that's pure parfum and cost them $20 and they know they'll cherish that sample for like a year because they can't afford a full bottle. I could go on and on. It's just hard to know where to set the boundaries, so I think it would be hard to make rules for this type of thing.I do agree though that in general, if it's only a sample or a small decant (less than 10 mL maybe?) of a typical perfume then it should not be in the "HAVE" section.

by CuteChemist | Perfumes & Brands
...DaisyDukes:FloraMilena:CuteChemist:I'm gonna get shot for saying this, but Coco Noir, IMHO, is "classic" material!I agree with this. I think COCO NOIR will easily become a future classic.I agree with both of you. I think it's lovely.Haha okay good! I know so many people hate on it!

How much Bling do you need?
by CuteChemist | Perfumes & Brands
...Not a fan of bling. In fact, I'd prefer NOT to have it. I hate the idea of spending 10 times more just for a fancy bottle, when all I really care about is the juice!I like a pretty bottle as much as the next person, but I sure own some ugly ones and I don't really care as long as they smell good. I'm not into spending loads of money for fancy bottles.

Welcome to Parfumo Research!
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Research
...I guess this is kind of off topic, but I just wanted to express that I'm really thrilled about all the features here, and I love that it's done in a Wiki style. One thing I might add though is for me personally, I'm having a hard time transitioning from a couple features on Fragrantica which I feel are, IMHO, sort of crucial to the experience on a site like this. Being able to add the picture and name of a fragrance into your posts as well as being able to vote visually on the prominence of olfactory notes on the individual perfume pages have made it exponentially easier to both learn about fragrances and share my experiences. I'm a highly visual person, and so I really need those visual representations to guide me. I feel that if Parfumo had these features, there's really nothing else I would change, as all the other features are amazing!

Do you dare to don "Exceptional"? Exceptional Because You Are - Exceptional
by CuteChemist | Perfumes & Brands
...Haha this is a funny thread. Omg I'm embarrassed to say I've probably got like 12 of these samples. I don't have the heart to throw them away and I can't imagine throwing them in a swap. I have yet to try it, but the notes don't look like my thing.

Which MONTALE and/or KEIKO MECHERI for me, please?
by CuteChemist | Perfume Recommendations
...Rosecat:Montale "sweet oriental dream" & KM "Loukhoum" are very similar indeed! I own both, and You will like either of them :) Montale & Keiko do some fabulous Rose fragrances too, cant really go wrong with those.I second this. I own Keiko Loukhoum Eau Poudree and i love it. I have yet to try the plain Loukhoum. I have also tried Sweet Oriental Dream and love it as well. If you do happen to appreciate those, I also suggest Serge Lutens Louve, Ava Luxe Loukhoum, and Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum.

How do you use the collection list?
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Community
...It's up to you but I use mine to keep organized. For me:Have is for full bottles (15 mL or larger manufacturer bottles), large decants, and rollerballs. Mini is for minis (usually 5-7 mL) or 5-10 mL decants. Sample is just for samples I have up to 3 or 4 mL, whether I've tried them or not. Tested is obviously if I've tested it but don't own a bottle. Wishlist if I want a full bottle or decant.Had are almost always bottles I've owned and then swapped. I never finish a bottle.

Perfumes you won't publicly admit to?
by CuteChemist | Perfumes & Brands
...Probably my celeb scents. I love 'em at times, but it's kind of embarrassing when you're almost 30 and have to admit to wearing Britney Spears. Still, if I like it, I wear it!

How did you hear about Parfumo?
by CuteChemist | Parfumo Community
...I'm a Fragrantica member, and TBH, I had never heard of Parfumo but I was on Google, looking something up on a HTF fragrance, and the website came up. I looked around and liked the features, so I joined. I was looking for a way to organize my samples and I like the way you can set up your wardrobes here. I'm also a Basenotes member but I find the members a little cold at times. Everybody here seems really nice so far :)

Petit Fracas
by CuteChemist | Perfumes & Brands
...I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard it's sort of a "celebrity style knockoff" of Fracas. A little cheaper smelling, a little fruity, and supposedly meant for a younger crowd. I personally adore the original so I'm not sure if I'd appreciate a "cheapened" version, but who knows?

Re: Hello from Portland, OR
...Hi everyone. My name is Mike and I live in Portland, OR. I often lurk and occasionally participate on other perfume sites.I like almost all fragrance, and I love trying new ones. I enjoy everything from drugstore to high-end designer fragrances, and everything in between. I have a fairly sizeable collection, and I can find some kind of charm in all of my 100 or so bottles.Like I said, I do lurk a lot, but I did want to drop in and say "hello.:df737872e4]Hello from PDX as well
