Trying Harder
by Danieq | Perfumes & Brands
...When I first began my perfume journey, I tried both L'Heure Bleue and Mitsouko and I thought they smelled very much alike as well. In addition, I felt they had a sour note to them that I couldn't get past and so I left them on the store counter. When pressed, I would have said I preferred LHB. However, neither was tempting me.Then, I purchased a Vintage Lotion Vegetale of LHB and using that from a spray atomizer into which I transferred it, caused me to fall in love. The Lotion Vegetale was considerably lighter so I think it helped introduce me a bit more slowly. Now, LHB is one of my favorites. And, it smells nothing like Mitsy to me at all now. I think my nose just changed over time. My sensitivities have adjusted and what I liked in the beginning I no longer enjoy and what I hated I often find I love.I tried very hard to like Chanel No 5. It took me a long time, but now I love it.I also tried to like Secretions Magnifique, that one, however, didn't fare as well! YUCK!

Tragedy. When perfumes turn
by Danieq | Perfumes & Brands
...I've got quite a few vintages that the top notes are pretty unpleasant, but once they burn off, not usually more than 15 minutes, the character of the scent is there in all it's vintage splendor.I will say though, that I bought a vintage Vol de Nuit EdC and I'm not certain that it has it's original character at all anymore. That was an expensive mistake.

Hermès perfumes
by Danieq | Perfumes & Brands
...I've not been that big a fan of the Hermes as a house. However, I absolutely adore the Vintage form of Eau d'Hermes. This is a flowery civet bomb and it's simply gorgeous. Reminds me a little of Jicky in the opening, but the drydown is a stunning white floral with the civet hanging on in the background. It is delicious. And hard to find. I stocked up recently when I found someone who still had a stash of the copper top bottles. Now I have some extra that I'll likely sell at some point. But if the chance to purchase left and I could wear only one perfume that is in my collection, I could be happy with this one.I am considering a FB of Hiris as the other one which I liked, but I'm not sure I get along well enough with it's green side.

The Significant Other - Perfumes?
by Danieq | Perfumes & Brands
...My hubby is not a connoisseur of scent or flavors (which I think of as related). He does have some things that he definitely doesn't like (amber!)and skank (things like My Sin, Shocking) but otherwise, he has no interest really. He doesn't mind that I enjoy it. He supports my choice to have a hobby though.I have trouble getting him to wear much as he's always convinced that it bothers his nose, however, nothing I wear seems to do so. He's conflicted. LOL

by Danieq | Perfumes & Brands
...Secretions Magnifique is disgusting. I just tried it again today and I just can't do it. Rank! It does smell like what it's named for I guess, but who wants to sniff that. Create it maybe, but sniff it?????Alien is also a scrubber. Why?
