I used to HATE it, till I fell in LOVE with it

...I blindly bought a vintage bottle of "Narcisse (Eau de Toilette) | Chloé" years ago.  I tried it and found it cloying.  Oh, and I hated the drydown so much!  I gave it to my mom, who tucked it away, never to be seen again.  After she passed away the bottle came back to me.  I remembered hating it so I tried to get rid of it but no one would have it.  I tried it again and FELL IN LOVE.  Shout-it-from-the-rooftops kind of love.  I don't know what happened but I'm so smitten with it.  It reminds me of one of my biggest loves, "Organza (Eau de Parfum) | Givenchy", though I can't put my finger on why this is so.  I'm grateful no one would take it.I know I can't be the only one who's had this type of delayed experience.  Has this happened to you?  What scent was once a scrubber but is now a favorite?  I'd love to know!  Maybe I need to go back and try some other scents I once dismissed.

Banana Note in Dolce & Gabbana Sicily

Ylang ylang reads as banana?
...Off topic (sort of) but I have a few ylang ylang perfumes and they smell banana-ish to my nose. "Fleurs des Caraïbes | Comptoir Sud Pacifique" is a banana-like tropical scent, akin to banana flavored Now and Later chews. I wonder if that's what's giving "Songes (Eau de Toilette) | Goutal" its banana impression?

Recommendations for common ground

...The first scent that came to mind was "G I R L by Pharrell Williams | Comme des Garçons", a woody sweet-ish vetiver and violet unisex scent with an intriguingly odd bottle.I went to see your wardrobe and noticed it's empty. When you have a chance fill in your wardrobe so other members can better suggest scents for you. And also, I'm nosey and I'd love to see what you enjoy! 🙂

The New Basenotes website

...That's quite an upgrade. It looks really nice but it'll take some getting used to it. I have an account but i rarely check it so I'll probably never fully used to it.

Want to join a focus group - or not? Just keep on posting

...Interesting! Thanks for sharing that. AI coming up with what it thinks consumers want? Yikes!

...Let me begin with a disclaimer: I don't work for nor am I associated with Ganache Parfums. That said, I'm a big fan of their offerings. The owner/perfumer, Jarehkye Covarrubias, often threatens to pull the plug on his business, but usually comes back after a brief hiatus. This time he claims to be finished with the whole enterprise by the end of the month. Since he's claiming to close up shop, all of his perfumes are heavily discounted. I have "Cheat Day | Ganache Parfums", which is a hyper-realistic Neapolitan scent made richer with espresso. It's a must-have for anyone seeking a chocolate and strawberries combo. I've also gotten sample sets that were gourmand heaven. "Chocolate Wasted | Ganache Parfums" is a requirement in any chocolate lover's wardrobe. "Strawberry Panna Cotta (2017) | Ganache Parfums" rivaled "Fraaagola Saalaaata | Hilde Soliani Profumi" for best strawberry scent to my nose and "Joe | Ganache Parfums" (and all of his other coffee scents) has a cult following. Check that house out before he closes his shop for good.

Purely oranges

...I had one, "Mandarin Jasmine #994 | GAP" that was pure oranges... and jasmine. However, it's not musky but rather a straightforward oranges/jasmine scent. But you have to like jasmine. Right now, "Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca | Guerlain" is satisfying that "pure oranges" craving for me. I don't detect musk but it is the entire orange tree in a bottle.

high end fragrance

...Wow, that's a generous budget! There are so many great niche and designer brands; it would be hard to narrow it down to a few brands. I'd recommend you invest in several samples first, then decide from that point onward. The Scent Bar ( would be my first stop. I love Guerlain, (some) Tom Ford, Chanel, Tauer Perfumes, Serge Lutens, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Diptyque and so many more.

Calvin Klein One Sugar Loaf

...That's a great looking bottle!  I've never seen it before and I can't find a seller online.  That's unfortunate; it's a great bottle.

Mysterious Perfume

...I just looked up Nicky Chini, a hair products company.  I wonder if the perfume was either a hair perfume or a limited edition.  You could reach out to the company and include pictures. My condolences to you and your family.  I recently lost my mother and I'll need to sort through her things in the near future. My sympathy is with you.

Affordable female vanilla fragrance

Re: Inexpensive vanilla recommendation
...PowpowOutremer vanille (cotton candy, brown sugar, like vanilla)and even less expensivePacifica Island Vanilla (Tahitian vanilla, tea, bourbon, ice cream)I was going to suggest "Island Vanilla (Perfume) | Pacifica" also. It's my summer go-to vanilla. If you don't mind oils try "Vanilla Bean | Kuumba Made". It's a straightforward vanilla but it's cheap, fantastic smelling, and long lasting.

...DonVanVliet"I Love New York for Her | Bond No. 9" is great - Blueberry muffin! 😃Yes, yes, yes!!! I've forgotten how great it is.  It's in my perfume tray rotation this month and it is glorious!

Fragrances with natural components

...I don't have a lot of experience with natural perfumes.  I'm not entirely sure about some of the oils in my collection, maybe they count, too?  But I did try a sampler by Nateeva.  ("St. Martin | Nateeva" was my favorite in the sampler.) The fragrances were pretty, if not sparse, but the longevity was lacking.  Longevity is my biggest issue with natural perfumes.  Given their high prices and how fleeting they are on my skin, natural perfumes are hard for me to love.

Which perfume last the longest?

Maybe perfume oils?
...Have you tried perfume oils? I really like Alkemia ("Vanille Patchouli | Alkemia"  is my favorite), TerraNova ("China Rain | Terranova" is a classic), and Al Rehab ("Dalal (Perfume Oil) | Al Rehab"). Also, I like to use a thin layer of petroleum jelly where I'm about to spray a weaker scent. If gives the scent something to which to stick.

Best indie House.

Kyse Perfumes & Ganache Parfums
...I'm in love with Kyse Perfumes and Ganache Parfums, both out of Northern California.  If gourmands appeal to you, these houses are a great source.  The prices are reasonable and the scents are unforgettable.  If anything, "Sucré et Fleurs / Sucre et Fleurs | Kyse Perfumes / Perfumes by Terri" was my signature several years ago.  I was hooked!

I'm looking for a stunning VANILLA perfume

Besides Angelique Noire...
..."Angélique Noire | Guerlain" is my one (of many) true love(s), but there are so many others out there."Vanille Débauche / Vanille Debauche | Kyse Perfumes / Perfumes by Terri" is almost leathery and dark."Eau Duelle (Eau de Parfum) | Diptyque" is fantastically rich yet unsweetened."Black Flower Mexican Vanilla | Dame Perfumery Scottsdale" is spicy and spiked eggnog.Others:"Vanilla Flash | Tauerville", "Vanille Exquise | Goutal", "Vanillary (Perfume) | Lush / Cosmetics To Go", "Spiritueuse Double Vanille | Guerlain"

...Hello fellow gourmand lovers! Here are some of my favorite gourmands:"Angélique Noire | Guerlain" "Les Notes Gourmandes - Dragée | Réminiscence" "Les Élixirs Charnels - Gourmand Coquin | Guerlain" "Sucré et Fleurs / Sucre et Fleurs | Kyse Perfumes / Perfumes by Terri" "I Love New York for Holidays | Bond No. 9" "Secrets d'Essences - Vanille Noire | Yves Rocher" "Pleasures Delight | Estēe Lauder" "Love Don't Be Shy (Perfume) | Kilian"

Help with Wedding day perfume

...Congrats on your upcoming nuptials! Have you tried "Nuit de cellophane | Serge Lutens"? It's a beautiful jasmine.

According to my pictures, which perfume would suit me ?

...Fun topic! Be sure to fill in your wardrobe so we can better help you.Your pictures convey a woman who enjoys life's adventures and has a curious mind. I picture you wearing a romantic floral that's a modern classic, not a dismissive fad if the day. Something like "Chance" by Chanel or "Champs Elysees" by Guerlain, perhaps? 🌹
