Replacement for Creed Aventus

...I'm still working on my flacon of Aventus from 2011. I understand that the subsequent releases have varied in scent, projection and longevity. You might try Mazzolari - Nero. I received a sample of this a while ago and the frist thing that came to mind was Aventus. Lucky Scent carries Mazzolari, so you can get yourself a sample. https://www.luckyscent.com/pro...

The New Basenotes website

...I think the new Basenotes site has some great improvements but there still seems to be a lack of perfumes in their directory. I personally feel that Parfumo is a better experience.

How do you store your samples?

...Greysolon:ScentFan, your idea of using tiny beads to keep your samples upright is genius. I don't know if this would work for you -sounds like you have lots of samples- but I've been using cosmetic storage trays by a company called BINO. They don't look like they'd hold much but each compartment in the tray accommodates multiple decants: 6 x 1 ml. vial or 2 x 2 ml. or 3 ml. sprays. Also, each level of compartments is tiered so it's easy to see and pick up each bottle. The first photo is the rectangular tray and it has 45 compartments so it holds well over 100 decants/samples.The second photo is the curved tray which has 15 regular compartments (same size as above) and 3 large compartments. The large compartments are great for big decants and carded samples. Finally, the tray holding all the boxed Diptyque samples has 15 large compartments so it'd work just as well holding 3 x 2ml. or 3 ml. sprays.I pick up the storage trays as I need them from Marshall's and TJ Maxx for $4-$9. I have quite a few now… :roll:Great idea, Greysolon.

Sniff Fest - Learning Chypre

...Triffid:You should also try "Jean-Louis Scherrer" , one of the best green chypres ever. Not sure I'd classify "First" as a chypre - I've always considered it a classic floral aldehyde.Agreed, Triffid. "Jean-Louis Scherrer" is a fantastic example. I love wearing this perfume.

From Designer to Niche

...I started off as a teenager in the designer fragrance arena. I didn't have the funds nor knowledge of niche at this time. Today I am older and much wiser. I find that I enjoy niche very much but still cherish my older designed fragrances.

Chinese fragrances - any recommendations?

...Triffid:Flaconneur, I notice that Parfumo member ChapeauClack lives in China. Perhaps you could send her a message? It seems that cultures like Japan and China are less fragrance-centric than places like, say, the middle east or India. I can imagine their notion of personal scent to be very understated. Thanks for the suggestion, Triffid. You are probably correct about how the Chinese use fragrance. I will contact them and give it a try.
