...Exciter76:Iseabail:I hated Incense Rose. It lacks refinement in my opinion. I found it very oppressive.I know Tauers can be very polarizing. There's something very nostalgic about Tauers for me. That heavy handed approach appeals to me but it can overwhelm, too. I have to be cognizant of my surroundings if I wear my Tauers outside of the house.Thank you for your comment. I do like some heavy handed scents, just not those ones. :-) They definitely no not work for me in general. I like 'L'air du désert' but it is not a love. I also enjoy 'Carillon pour un ange' but it is a once in a while scent so a small decant would certainly be enough for me. Just like Lutens, it is a house that generally works for you or doesn't.
...This is my order of preference:Sideris, Unique and beautiful. Easily wearable, just the right about of projection and durability. Well rounded.Lyric. A very interesting imposing rose. It is very strong and intense. A true Arabian masterpiece.Malle Portrait of a Lady. This is well done but I did not like it on me. I actually enjoy it on men. *much weaker nowI hated Incense Rose. It lacks refinement in my opinion. I found it very oppressive.
...I love rose on a man, especially when paired with oud and/or patchoui.Lumière Noire MFK +1Portrait of a Lady by Malle +1 It works better on a man imo.Tribute by Amouage (hard to find but worth it)Al Quds by Al Haramain
...Hello,thank you for your feedback. I found L'air de Rien to be somewhat underwhelming. A bit too subtle for my tastes. In the same genre, I prefer Kama from Ava Luxe.I am not fond of many vintage fragrances, not to wear on me anyhow. I love the smell of Safari but when I had a decant, I did not reach for it much. For richer vintage fragrances, I enjoy wearing a few orientals such as Femme Rochas and Samsara. I will have a look at the Bond 9.
...I have to second the similarity to Aramis comment and also somewhat dated about Feuilles de Tabac. The only men one I enjoy at the moment is their Vetiver Insolent. It is earthy and aromatic. Suitable for all ages, you just have to love vetiver. It is not a lemony freshie one which is good in my books. The performance is not fantastic but it stays around. It just starts quite loud, 30 min or so later, the projection shifts to a comfortable one arm's length. It lasts for a good 7+ hours. One of my favourite summer fragrances is their discontinued Fleur du matin so I am keeping an eye on the brand.
...It is very rare to find a perfume with peach as a main note. It can be somewhat prominent but that's about it. The Jo Malone Nectarine was mentioned. I would like to suggest that you give Shangri La Hiram Green a try. For the first hour, there is this big ripe peach in the forefront. It is a modern chypre and other notes such as Oakmoss and spices start to assert themselves and the peach is still there but less prominent. It is a very well made fragrance and this house has other very interesting offerings.Good luck on your search!
...Hello lovely people,I am very much a fan of this style of fragrances and I am lucky to have several loves in my collection. By dirty I mean a good dose of any of these: patchouli, resins, spices, animalics, oakmoss, smoke. I am wondering if there are other ones I should try that I might have missed.
