Is Guerlain discontinuing Shalimar Initial? Shalimar Parfum Initial - Guerlain
...A final warning if you don't already have this - the last batches have apparently left the factory. Might be worth looking into now while it's still available. http://monsieurguerlain.tumblr.com/post/104999830468/time-to-stock-up-guerlain-informs-us-that

Is Guerlain discontinuing Shalimar Initial? Shalimar Parfum Initial - Guerlain
...There's still no official word, which is extremely frustrating, but the depleting stock would suggest that it is on its way out.Still, there seems to be some really good discounts on bottles at the moment, at least in the UK. As always, check the internet before coughing up for full price! At the time of writing, you can get a 60ml bottle online for less than the price of a full-price in the UK.

Guerlain - Shalimar Souffle de Parfum Shalimar Souffle de Parfum - Guerlain
...As in another thread, it seems as though this is the replacement for the soon-to-be discontinued "Shalimar Parfum Initial". Still, I'm surprised that Shalimar keeps getting flankers, given that it's one of those untouchable classics. How many does Wasser intend on releasing?

What new fragrances for men have that 'classic' potential?
...There were quite a few that I'd consider classics from before 2009, such as YSL M7, "Dior Homme (2005)", "Terre d'Hermes", "Sycomore", "Rive Gauche pour Homme (2003)" and "Jubilation XXV Man".From the last 5 years though? Designer fragrances for men have either plunged into the sport/intense flanker abyss, or they've released the safest, blandest fragrances possible for easily pleased men. As much as I don't like it all that much, "Aventus" could become a classic in that it seems to have introduced men to niche perfumery when they wouldn't be at all interested otherwise. Other than that, I'm really struggling to think of something that isn't a dull flanker from 2009 onwards.

What new perfumes have that 'classic' potential?
...From the last 5 or so years, I think "Bottega Veneta" could stand the test of time and become a fine example of a post-oakmoss regulation chypre. One of the Amouage line is bound to become a classic, too. Maybe "Fate Woman"?

Which perfume will be your next buy ?
...I've got samples of "28 La Pausa" and "Iris Silver Mist" on the way, but aside from that I'm lusting over "For Her (eau de toilette)". I may also give "Shalimar Parfum Initial" another go, if the discontinuation rumours are true.Boy, I really don't need another Chanel Exclusif though. I splurged on "31 rue Cambon" earlier this month and haven't yet forgiven myself for it.

Is Guerlain discontinuing Shalimar Initial? Shalimar Parfum Initial - Guerlain
...Monsieur Guerlain is a fantastic source for Guerlain information (he revealed some discontinuations earlier this year, including Sous le Vent and Vega), so if you hear it from him, it's most likely true. He gets information about new Guerlain launches and discontinuations first, and he's been very reliable in the past. It's worth mentioning that there's a new flanker, "Shalimar Souffle de Parfum". Possibly to replace Parfum Initial?EDIT (sorry about this): Monsieur Guerlain sort of confirmed it a few weeks ago on his fb page.
