Please, for the love of god, help me find this perfume
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Recommendations
...Grey Flannel (Eau de Toilette)Grey Flannel Eau de Toilette and Alien (Eau de Parfum)Alien Eau de Parfum both fit the description despite being very different."The smell of a shirt" isn't very informative though, can you think of any specific note, or at least which family the fragrance might have belonged to, like floral, soapy/aromatic fougere... ?

Fresh, dark and mysterious performer
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Recommendations
...Your description makes me think of Series 3: Incense - ZagorskSeries 3: Incense - Zagorsk, though I'm not quite sure I would classify that as a summer, or even summer leaning fragrance. It's worth trying though, maybe it'll be the perfect summer scent for you :p

Spearmint?
...I'd say either Menthe FraîcheMenthe Fraîche or You Or Someone Like YouYou Or Someone Like You, though as Omnipotato very clearly said mint scents tend to fade quickly to leave the spotlight to middle and base notes, and I can't think of any fragrance where mint lasts very long.

Maison Alhambra - The Trail // Has anybody tried it?
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
...Just as the title says, has anybody had the chance of trying it out in person? As far as I understand it it's supposed to be """inspired by""" A Midnight StrollA Midnight Stroll, though, as always, it's difficult to gauge how accurate the newer and cheaper fragrance is compared to the inspiration, and it doesn't seem like it's available to try at any physical store nearby, so maybe someone has formed an opinion after smelling it and maybe even wearing it?Cheers, and thanks in advance!

Looking for a men's (or unisex) version of Black Opium (Eau de Parfum) - Yves Saint Laurent
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Recommendations
...I don't see why Black Opium wouldn't be perfectly suitable for a man, the only reason why someone might be against it is that it's quite sweet, but plenty of sweet men's fragrances have become quite popular in recent years, so I wouldn't have any qualms about wearing something like it.

Fragrance for son's baptism
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Recommendations
...Without any info as to what sort of frags you like, and given that the ones in your shortlist are quite different from one another, the first recommendation I can offer is, for sure, New York IntenseNew York Intense, that's the first fragrance that comes to mind when hearing classy and black tie. That said, knowing if you're looking for specific notes, or things close to a specific fragrance, or members of a fragrance family, would make it easier to give you meaningful suggestions. Also, given your budget, if you have something in mind already I'd just buy a few samples from an online store carrying niche frags and take my time sampling them, there's really no substitute for that.

Citrus/fresh nivhe perfume for summer
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
..."Graines Vagabondes - Winter Palace | Memo Paris" is worth a look, but why are you discounting designer fragrances entirely?Unless you go for reeeally popular ones it's unlikely that people will recognize anything, especially if you're in school, so near people who won't have had much experience with even things like Acqua di Giò pour Homme (Eau de Toilette)Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette.

I walked past a cistus plant and smelled...what resin?
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
...The resin burned in churches is usually a mix of olibanum and myrrh in different proportions, and the best rendition of that scent I found in perfumery is CardinalCardinal. Shame about its performance...Armani Privé - Bois d'EncensArmani Privé - Bois d'Encens is another great, great one, albeit overpriced if you ask me.OlibanumOlibanum is a significant part of it, but it lacks smoke - it smells like pure, splendidly high quality incense, while churches use less refined products that contain other impurities that contribute to the smell being "smokey".Despite the marketing behind them, none of the fragrances you mentioned are straight-forward enough to be good to learn what incense, of whatever variety, smells like, so I recommend you don't base your impressions of olibanum and myrrh on them too much.Labdanum is the incense made from the resin of the cistus ladanifero flower, and the names are often interchangeable in note pyramids and marketing copies.A nice one note frag focused on this is Attaquer Le Soleil - Marquis de SadeAttaquer Le Soleil - Marquis de Sade. I don't think it smells splendidly, but it does smell like labdanum and nothing else.

Do you store your frag in the box?
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
...Once I start using a bottle I ALWAYS keep it out of its box unless I don't intend to use it anymore.Knowing I'll have to take it out of the box to wear it instead of just picking it up and spraying it, especially if the box is fancy and all, just turns me off from wearing it, which I find inconvenient and annoying.Plus, as Kurai nicely put, nice bottles deserve to be seen!

Citrus/fresh/marine niche fragrance for school/office
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
...A safe and reasonably priced fresh citrus, slightly marine fragrance that's versatile enough for school and office use is the ubiquitous (once, now not so much) Acqua di Giò pour Homme (Eau de Toilette)Acqua di Giò pour Homme Eau de Toilette.Does it HAVE to be niche? Also, what's your budget for this? Even a ballpark would be useful. And lastly, do you have some clearer idea what you're looking for? Citrus/fresh/marine encompasses an astronomical amount of frags, and the three ones you mentioned are fairly different from one another, so it's difficult to offer a suggestion based on just this request.

Fragrance Rotations 2024
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
...There are at least two rotations, one is weather and temperature dependent, and is thus tied to the season, and one is mood dependent. I'm in my light incense period, and who knows when I'll hop on to the next phase...

Politically incorrect fragrance notes?
by Johnjssmith | Perfume Discussions
...Oriental doesn't have any negative connotation by itself, is used to refer to specific regions of the world, and in perfumery it refers to a specific set of notes that go beyond the ingredients used in oriental perfumery or fragrances that evoke imagery of "orient", so I don't see why it should be removed from parfuno's database, nor where the notion that it's a reductive or offensive term comes from.
