Re: ditto to the above, and
...Dulcemio: I feel like my images are so low quality compared to the professional grade look of some of the ones posted by members here. On the other hand, it might be a while before I spring for a new camera, so maybe I'll just do the best with what I have. I want to get shots of each of my bottles with a kitty or two in the frame. :)I say just keep working with the equipment you've got. Focus more on the composition and the overall effect without expecting more from your equipment. I have some photos that I took with my old phone, and while the image is kind of grainy, I managed to capture particularly captivating scenes, and so those photos are precious to me even if not "professional grade".For us amateurs, we can learn a lot and still take some artful pictures with limited equipment. Kind of like learning to ski on a particular set of skiis. Once you've mastered them, then it probably is time to move up to the higher performance gear..

...I have to say that all of you that post such artistic pictures of your perfumes have inspired me to do a better job with mine. I probably won't take down my first postings, even tho they look so "meh" to me now..but won't get around to more photos til later. I know when I do, I'll take much more care in composition based on the inspiration I've received and the example set by youse guys here at Parfumo!!

Perfumes you won't publicly admit to?
...Are there perfumes that you own that you don't consider part of your collection and would not admit to owning? I have some -- won't say how many and what they are but they were purchased on a whim, partly cause I liked the bottles but also as an experiment. Don't necessarily like the scents but kept them because they remind me vaguely of something or someone from my past. Probably will give them away or donate them, but in the meantime, they are not part of my collection!

Frags so good you can't find an occasion to wear them?
But, but, but
...AromiErotici didn't say he didn't like wearing the perfume, or it didn't fit him even though he loved it. He didn't say he didn't like the way it worked with his body chemistry. He didn't say it wasn't his style, though spectacular. He said he loved it so much, that it was so spectacular, he couldn't choose a setting or occasion to experience and let others experience the fragrance, and because he worshiped the perfume in the bottle he made himself sell it because he didn't like worshiping inanimate objects. So I can understand the second half of this, but I cannot understand how you could love a perfume but never want to smell it or express it.

What perfume have you bought recently?
After reawakening to the world of perfumes
...(and as to why I ever fell asleep, can't say) I purchased an extra bottle of Rive Gauche (we can't get it here in the states unless you shop online) when I was in Zurich over Christmas, and in January went for some new ones: Chanel No.19 Poudree and Hermes Jardin en Mediterranee. The latter I discovered maybe 5 years ago, when checking out a small perfume shop in New York City. I was looking for Rive Gauche and saw that Hermes had some new perfumes and liked the Jardin series.More recently after reading the advice of all here on how to shop on eBay, I successfully obtained two vintage perfumes. Fifi by de Nivel and Hermes Caleche. Both in great shape and reasonable prices.(Oh yes I know what happened. When I stopped participating in the wage based economy, I was going out less often and so dramatically slowed in my perfume usage. Would still ask for the occasional bottle of Rive Gauche if a family member was in France. I guess I have a lifetime supply of RG.Can you tell that I love RG?)

Frags so good you can't find an occasion to wear them?
...AromiErotici: Certain frags smell so good to me that I can't wear them casually. It's just a personal quirk I suppose.then don't wear them casually, wear them with great deliberation! :-) I take it you can't be convinced to think differently. But it would be interesting if you could analyze your personal quirk. I'd like to understand it better. One thing that comes to mind for me: if a perfume is never let out of the bottle, is it still a perfume? (if a tree falls in the forest and...)

Oh silly!! you sold it off?
...Can I give some unsolicited advice? or rather I'll give you some unsolicited advice: develop some joie de vivre, become a bon vivant. Some things in life are precious because they are ephemeral. There is no such thing as a perfume too special or precious to use.So use it any time and use it up. Put it on before bed, put it on after an intense workout and clean up!It almost makes me think that you have some desire for immortality to be part of the "perfect" experience. Instead, treasure the ephemera for the unique and precious experience that it is.Cheers,N

Re: The Parfumo Logo
...Pipette:That's their logo. It has been in existence for a long time. They cannot change it suddenly. It is a brand mark.[img]But it's not just the logo where those colors appear but the background on all the webpages. Surely those colors could be changed?

researching a perfume on the web
...I was trying to find any information I could on one of my favorite perfumes made by de Nivel, and this was the only perfume community that had a perfume listed from that house. So then I immediately joined the community. Now I find it to be one of the better perfume communities on the web. The only thing is I don't like the pastel blue and red theme for the website. I feel like it makes for a kind of washed out and inelegant look. but I feel kind of bad complaining because this is such a great community in all important respects.

Today is the 1st of April / Google Sniffing Day
by NSku | Off Topic
Interesting!!
...I'm telling you now, this is only temporarily an "April Fools" thing. I knew someone who worked at Google a while back (like 10 years ago) and I told him that they needed to develop something like "google smells" where we could search for smells, and of course you'd need some type of device to connect to your computer that could then emit the smell so you experience the smell.I know that AI computer scientists are working on all kinds of abilities for machines, and a machine that can smell, analyze smells and tell you what they are would be incredibly important. And then to be able to send those smells over the internet. Wow, wouldn't that be cool!!!I think they are working on it.

Vintage Thrills
...The most loved perfume in my "vintage" collection is Rive Gauche. When I was given a new formula version of RG, I knew immediately it wasn't the same. Did a bunch of googling and first discovered the online world of perfumistas. The original RG, of which I still have 1/3 of a bottle, has memories of Paris for me -- the modern parts of Paris, Montparnasse and the metro underneath, and being 14 and touring all around Paris by myself or with my sister, my Guide Michelin under my arm.Amazing how smell can allow us to time travel.I always got compliments with the vintage version and interestingly I get compliments on the new formulation and never for any other of my vintage perfumes. So the new formulation is for wearing, and the vintage is just for sniffing the bottle, rarely opening it.Then my second most treasured vintage is FiFi by de Nivel. My daddy brought that home from Europe when I must have been 6 years old. And I loved it. He was able to get me one more bottle before it disappeared completely from the face of the earth. I nursed those two bottles and today I still have a few drops in one. That bottle was only for sniffing since I was a teen. It transports me back to the time when I was little and playing with beautiful dolls and miniatures from Germany, and I had small, pretty ceramic tiles from Holland. (they came in a box of chocolates).
