Comme des Garçons topic, also re. Pharrell

...Sleuth:Have you smelled it yet, Siebter? Not yet, but I will pretty soon. I do like the uncommon concept behind it, your review makes it sound interesting too. In the german section I read that the sandalwood in G I R L is quite prominent (and I love sandalwood a lot).

Your favorite classic Eau de Cologne?

...I only own one real EdC, so I am anything but an expert, but I really love "Series 4 Cologne: Vettiveru" by Comme des Garçons - though the approach is rather classic, it seems a great modern variation of the classic EdC. And it lasts quite nicely.

Scents From Hell - The Most Beautific Perfumes

...I have two perfumes from the synthetic-line by Comme des Garçons, "Series 6 Synthetic: Skai" and "Series 6 Synthetic: Soda". Skai is not that bad actually, it dries down to a pretty comforting leather, but until it gets there, one has to stand quite a pungent line of synthetic aromas and some of them even disgust me. Soda definitely reminds me of citrussy toilet cleaners in the opening, it is very acidic and almost hrutal. Later I smell weird hints of lemondrops and fresh bathwater.I wear both, but only at home, it's nothing I would like to show myself off with. Both scents are extremely authentic and give you pretty much what they say, so I see them rather as unique experiences then as something I would use to make chicks hot.

Perfumes that Smells like a Temple or a Church

...If you are looking for a catholic vibe you should definitely give "Series 3 Incense: Avignon" a try. The thing is: with that glorious, deep and smokey incense you also get a strong vibe of cold brick walls, it actually smells like an old building. Pretty special, pretty cool.

The classiest scent in your wardrobe

...This is quite hard to answer for me since I do not really experience many suit and tie events. However, I often choose perfumes that create a contrast - it's kinda nice to wear Pradas Amber or Tuscan Leather in a dance club. And it actually works.I do suit up when I go to a play at a theater for example; for those occasions I usually pick "34 Boulevard Saint Germain" by Diptyque. I think in my collection it's the only scent that does smell luxurious, refined and expensive and yet is subtle.

Tauer scents

...I only have tested two Tauers so far; I really like L'Air du desert, but I totally *worship* Une Rose Chyprée. Out of this world for me. Although they are very different, there seems to be an olfactory bond between those two and a friend mentioned some kind of "Tauerinade" which all Tauers have. I will definitely test some more.

State of designer and niche fragrances

...Hm, yet another attempt to abuse a term in order to determine quality - although we pretty much all agree that both niche and designer have released good and bad scents. As Coutureguru already wrote: after all it boils down to ones personal taste or personal point of view, and I do not think it is very useful to use terms such as 'niche' and 'designer' in order to find some kind of formula that explains (and justifies) our exceptional taste.I am more of a newbie in this game, and naturally I started my collection with designers. I have been buying niche now for months exclusively, and honestly: I don't feel there are many designer scents left for me to explore, but then again - I could not live without the designers that I already own, definitely not.For now I am much more interested in niche brands, but when you explore a scent, it should not matter whether it's niche or designer, should it?

The functional no-nos of perfume bottles

...I really love the look of the "pebble-flacons" by Comme des Garçons, but they are extremely slippery. I dropped my "Comme des Garçons 2" on the bathroom floor twice already and boy, that gave me quite a load of adrenaline, even though it only scratched the flacon. There's a reason why you can find instructions on YouTube on how to fix the rubber editions by Thierry Mugler to make them spray properly. In case you don't hit the sprayer absolutely perfect, the perfume will leave the flacon without any radius, sometimes it will even just dribble; scents like A*Men behave pretty nasty when being "hotspotted" too much.
